July she is going to do fine. It sound like your daughter and her teacher have done everything possible to help her.
I deal with the type of situation every year. There are loop holes so there is no need to stress it. To be honest the only kids that will probably be held back are those that wouldn't attend tutorials, those that have failed their classes and those of parents that just don't care enough to request a hearing. They know that your daughter has worked hard and she has passed her regular classes. There is so much more involved in the decision that just this test. That is what alot of parents don't understand. If for some reason she doesn't pass you will need to start the process to have the placement hearing. The schools, by law, can't initiate that it is a parent responsibility.
If you have any questions just ask and I will do my best to answer it. Beleive me it is easier in high school when they can use a calculator. It takes the stress off so many of these kids. Everyone of my 11th and 12th graders passed the test this year. All I do is reinforce the basic skills and work with them on using the calculator to help with those skills. The graphing calculator will do so much for them that alot of the kids don't even realize. So many times it's not that the kids don't know how to do the work it's the arithmatic mistakes that cause them to fail.

Yes..lI know there are loopholes to climb through...fortunately I am all up in the schools business from volunteering for years in the district! Just needing to get through the second administration here before going any further.......I even talked to the counselor and told her that I would not stop at holding her back in jr high for these tests....the counselor stopped short of agreeing with me that there are meetings that can be had, and appeals that can be made....It is just such a shame the kids have to go through the stress for a test....and it's a shame that more parents don't know about the process....Mary has been in before/after and during school tutorials as well as being in her math class three periods a day...2 in math block and then for advisory...(like study hall) so she has certainly done herpart!LOL! ....thanks as always for your information...believe me I will be getting back to you if I need more help on it...
I am soooooo glad you took a chance on us and came to dinner!
