Any Dr. Castro Patients Here?
I had hoped she would get Dr. Barker as my first choice for her, but he has a very long waiting list, apparently ..
I don't know anything about Dr. C. Does he have a pretty good rep.?

I had my VSG in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico last September. I needed my stitches removed. My internist is very conservative and I knew that he would wig out. I spoke with Dr. Joya's assistant, Gerald, about this. Get this. Gerald lives in Mansfield and commutes. What a commute!!!! I live in Arlington. Gerald referred me to his doctor. He took my stitches out. Dr. Castro shares and office with him one or two days a week. He operates at Methodist Mansfield. His main office is in Dallas. I called Dr. Castro for an appointment for aftercare.
He was very gracious and didn't bash me for going to Mexico. Afterall, he's hispanic! I have had several followup appointments. His nurses are the best! So he wasn't my surgeon but my experience has been very good. I wish your friend the best!

I was looking over Dr. C.'s profile on OH later on, and it looks like he has done over 1,500 WLSes to date, is board-certified and even a F.A.C.S. So, it sounds like from everything she should be in good hands.
(btw, I noticed too that Dr. C. is actually a grad of a med school in Mexico - so no wonder he has confidence in Mexican surgeons! )
