Ok goofball....
No, actually, to them, there are "adults" and then "mom and dad". So, we apparently are NOT adults to them as they seem to sometimes completely lose all smarts about themselves with us. Of course kids will test you and push buttons. Just depends upon who pushes back the hardest...I will have a blister on my finger long before they ever push ME back too far!!!

Hi George,
Update on Patrick. His most recent diagnosis from the neurologist is Ataxia and Neuropathy of the left side. Which basically means he has virtually no feeling in his left leg and foot - probably the results of both a broken femur (more than 30 years ago) and his more recent heart and lung surgeries and the bed confinement from all of those. This is causing him to have trouble walking causing him to bump into things and occasionally to loose his balance and fall. He started 4 weeks of therapy yesterday.
His neuropathy is so bad that when they used a taser on his left leg he had no reaction. Still no diagnosis for the exhaustion and lack of stamina he has, but they have ruled out several more things including thyroid problems. Thanks for keeping him on your prayer list as we continue to search for a solution.

OH...forgot to tell you....Viktoria came home finally with her tennis match medal. Weelllll, apparently one of the girls from the other team was disqualified due to academic probation or something along those lines, so Viktoria and her partner were awarded the 1st place medals! SWEET!!! Viktoria was also recently bumped up to the top league at the tennis club. She said those kids play a lot harder, but she is definitely holding her own. She said they are sometimes ****y but she just does what she can. The pro who teaches Sarah's group said he has heard from the main coach of that group that she is doing great and that's definitely where she needs to be. He also is thinking of bumping Sarah up AGAIN because she is better than some of the others who have been there a while! YIPPPEEE!!!!!!!

Just got back from daughter's group home. She has Cerebral palsy, mental retardation, but also severe psych. problems and behavioral problems. She's being moved to a new group home on Friday. Yesterday she was acting out at school (special enclosed school, very supportive environment, specializes in severely disabled children). She becomes physically aggressive and due to her size, she can put a world of hurt on someone! She was escorted to the principal's office where she spit in her face, threw the contents of her desk onto the floor, slapped her across the face and had to be physically restrained! Tonight, she was given time out for teasing one of her house mates with downs syndrome who does not defend herself. The aide stood outside of Courtney's bedroom and heard her trashing her room, so she entered and my daughter threw a 13 inch portable TV at this woman who is 7 1/2 months pregnant!!!!! Luckily, she got out of the way and was not hurt, but the crisis team was called in and hubby and I got called to come. She cannot verbalize her fear, anger and sadness of moving to a new residence, she acts on impulse and escalates into rage. I wanted to take her to the emergency services department of psychiatric hospital (she's been there 3 times since the age of 7) but the "experts" of the crisis team felt "they had things under control". I waiting for the phone to ring again. I'm going to call her psychiatrist first thing in the am. Either she is going to seriously hurt someone or herself and due to her brain damage, you can't reason with her, talk her out of it, redirect her, etc... I'm really frightened!
