Sweetie, there is no ***** about it; it's the honest truth.  You are living with some consequences of not taking your vitamins.  I am so worried and scared for you and want you to know we are here to help anyway we can.  If I need to text you every day let me know because I will.

I pray that you can get all of your labs back to where they need to be with no long term issues; I just hope it's not to far gone that you'll have to deal with some of what's happened.  At least now we can get you going forward and not hurting yourself any longer.

Did you talk to your doctor about supplementing with iron in addition to the infusions?  I'm really liking the Poly since it's only 1 per day and I can tell when I miss one (see I'm far from perfect myself) but striving to get back to never missing anything like I did for 2+ years.

Call me next week.

Hugs,

What iron are you taking?  Is it one of Vitalady's irons?  If so, which one?

Yes it is Sarah, here is the one I'm taking:  http://www.vitalady.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&k ey=1720

I liked the Tender Iron but found as I had to increase the number per day I was just not taking them regularly.  I take enough in number already and sometimes wish I could take 1 vitamin to cover everything, lol.

She's also just recently selling another iron that she and Don have researched for quiet some time and have seen it work for a several WLS patients.  If this one doesn't help increase my numbers then I'll try the other route.  I'm just not wanting to see my numbers go any lower, I need to raise them as quickly as possible.  I can feel the lower numbers affecting my energy level, cannot imagine being anemic.

Vitamins are not an option. Gastric Bypass folks are prone to malabsorption.  I am moderately low in iro, but my numbers are not low enough to have an iron infusion. I also found out I was low on potassium this past Saturday when I passed out in HEB and was taken to the ER. Now I am taking a prescription iron and potassium pills along with my Calcium, multi, etc. The iron I was taking (Bariatric Iron) was not enough.

The surgery we had is not a magic bullet whereas we can sit back after the weight loss and just coast through life,  but a new way of life. If we don't take our vitamins or exercise and change how we eat, we will feel the ramifications that will impact us in the negative for the rest of your lives.

So take your vitamins or face the consequences!

My iron is 24, which is considered moderately low. The insurance companies have put more restrictions up and I need to be 10 points lower or dead.

I thought I had put more on my profile, will go back and update. I had surgery on 12/10/09 and have lost 70 + lbs. Trying to get an updated pic posted soon.

On the lab results, its just refers to iron.  I don't mind answering questions at all.  My oncologist was going to give me a Procriet shot since I am a BC survivor and the restrictions are hurting patients that are currently in treatment.

Healthcare is a mess right now.  The only way it can be changed is when people get tired enough to march on Washington and want to get the attention of the worthless politicians with an impact such as the march that was done in the 60's for civil rights. IMHO
