I have never been one who can remember to take pills.........even when I am sick.  When I first had my surgery I bought all the vitamins, bought a container to put them in and put them where I thought I would remember.  Somedays I did "OK" and others not, well when I started reading all the things that people were going thru because they werent taking them ..... it scared the crap of me.  I remember now.  I have bottles at work and at home.  I have them sitting where I can see them and where I go often.

You may not feel the effects but down the road you will ........... please listen to the people on here that know and can tell you stories!!!

Notorious,
Are you planing to attend RYD this weekend? i hope so, would love to meet you and i think YOU would definatly be someone that would benefit from the speakers, sessions and the 'peep 'time!'
If you come, look me up! im sure debra has me meeting and greeting everywhere. I would love to meet you, then smack the crap outta you! TODAY NOW TAKE YOUR VITS! AND PUT DOWN THE DAMN ORANGE JUICE! Seriously, that OJ has sooooooo much sugar in it, it will just ruin your efforts and jack up your sugar. So put down the OJ and the milkshakes and start picking up the vits!!!!!
Come see us all and we will help you with this!

I k now the first few months was hard for me.  I couldn't even swollow a pill until I was nearly a year out.  They just made me sick.  But I still took my chewable multivitamin and my sublingual B-12 everyday and still do.  Still to this day I have a hard time with Calcium and Iron.  Both cause such bad constipation that even at 2 years out I can't figure out how to keep it from happening.  But I have gotten Upcal-d.  It is an unflavored powdered calcium that you can just put in your drink.  It has made it much easier for me to get in my calcium.  Now to just figure out how to get in the iron.  I take iron 2-3 times a week now but any more than that and I am more miserable than normal.  Like others have said you are probably not going to be deficient in just a few months because you body is living off what it has stored up but when it hit it will be rough.  Plese take care of yourself.

Bariatric advantage has a great tasting chewable iron in passion fruit flavored! Try taking Miralax for the constipation. Tasteless powder you mix into a drink. I put it in my iced coffee every day!

I have had many problems due to my choice to not take my vitamins. Spent 6 days (3 in ICU) due to my  hemoglobin level being so low and the resulting anemia preventing the stoppage of bleeding from my ulcers. Low iron can actually lead to a heart attack and as Sharyn said - death.
After 6 transfusions and a miserable time - I decided that I was going to get back on track w/ the vitamins.
I am now working with a specialist to try and resolve the chronic anemia and slowly we are suceeding.
As many said - the problems may not appear for 3 or 4 years (for me it was right at 4 years) - so don't fool yourself into thinking you are fine.

hello i see you got some great responses and of course i was called out on a few.... yes if you do not take your vitamins now and get into a routine you WILL have all kinds of damage....

the reason i have not posted as to what the doctors have found is we are still waiting on test results.....

as of right now i am getting iron infusions that take 6 hours that is a whole day sitting there hooked up to an i.v. getting several things pumped through your body then i know for me the next two days i feel like **** so when i get it done i try and do it on a friday and know that my whole weekend is blown.... i have been doing this for the last 6 or 7 months now... its not cheap and because i slacked off on my vitamins i have to sit there with chemo people and others that have to get other kind of infusions.... not a fun day at all...

i am not going to bash you but i will tell you first hand this memory loss crap stinks... i thank God that I was taken to the ER when i was because there is no telling where i would be right now... i didnt know that i had gone to dinner or shopping that night..... i dont remember any of what happen that day....

i have not lost any teeth yet but i know a couple of people who have lost toe nails and finger nails and a few teeth have just fallen out due to not taking their vitamins.....

you want me to keep it real - you made this agreement with your doctor and yourself that you would do what you are suppose to and that means taking the vitamins and having your blood work done every 6 months to a year what ever your doctors say.....this is a committement for life... you are trying to get healthy not let your body break down....

and this has nothing to do with my speech this weekend.... well part of it does....

one more thing... you could walk around looking like a druggie with your arms all bruised up where they cant get your veins cause you are dehydrated -

sorry if i come across as a $itch but if people need to use me as someone to learn from and not make the same mistakes then that is fine.... i have made them hoping others wouldnt have to go through what i have gone through....

you can pm me anytime or hopefully see you in galveston for the ryd conference.....if you are close to pasadena sean has an awesome group he leads once a month on mondays...
