The NIGH****CHMAN 5/12
Hi George;
I'm getting a late start tonight. I went to Houston to see one of my favorite authors do a reading from her new book and then stayed for her to sign all of her books that I own. I just got home a little bit ago. I was supposed to see her last Thursday in NYC, but when I lost my job, my trip was cancelled, so I made the road trip to catch her here.
I had a much better day today. Thank you to everyone who has been propping me up. I know I have major issues that I allow the outside world dictate my value as much as I do and I need to work on that.
I finally decided to sit down and pay bills. I'd been avoiding it for 3 weeks and since I had panic attacks every time I'd pay bills when I was employed, I knew it wasn't going to be good. Basically, I paid everything and then didn't do any of the math in the checkbook. I know there was enough money in there to cover everything, but I couldn't bear to see what was left when I was done, so I left it. Maybe I'll have Michael do it when he gets home on Friday.
My trip to Houston was really good. I spent a lot of time thinking about how blessed and rich my life truly is with the relationships I have. And that's really more important than the balance of my checking account anyway. I'm proud to say that I never stepped on anyone to get where I was and outside of my personal relationships that I have really good relationships with lots of people I've worked with in the past.
And on a final note, I have a phone interview with an ad agency in downtown Dallas tomorrow afternoon. I'm a little nervous and trying to not get my hopes up too high, but it would be nice to have a job lined up before my severance runs out.
I'll be up for a bit - I drank a 32 oz. Diet Dr Pepper on my drive home. Prayers for all who need them.

Thanks for dropping in. Glad you had a better day. I have not seen too many authors in my life. Let me think. Rod McKuen, Sandra Brown, and Bobby Sherman. That's it.
Regarding your checkbook. Hmmmm. With the severance running out, it might be a good idea to verify the balance. As the great Liz would say, "I'm just sayin'" LOL
Good luck with the interview. Knock their socks off so you can pack it all up and move up here.

Just doing rough math in my head, there's at least $2K in there. I just don't feel like knowing the exact amount yet. Maybe tomorrow. It may even be closer to $3K. And I paid every bill we had for the next 30 days. It'll be fine. And I have a commission check coming next Friday.
Blessings, Jennifer

A lot better off than I would be. LOL.
We went 3 years without balancing our checkbook when I was stationed in Spain. We just rounded everything up to make the subtracting easier. If we wrote the check for $12.32, we might put it in as $13, might put it in as $15. After 3 years there, we balanced the checkbook. We had an extra $900 in the account to spend while we were on vacation.

We bank with BofA, so every time we use our checkcards, they round it up to the next dollar and put the change in our savings account. I think we've saved like $400 in the last 12 months without actually doing anything. It's a cool program.
