We Can Do Hard Things
Saturday I helped host a women's event at church called The Road to Royalty. It was a study about Esther and had lots of princess theme stuff. Ate too many yummy cookies, but spread them out over the whole event so I didn't dump. Sat afternoon we went and saw Annette to give her some hugs. Then Sat night Jeff and I watched Danni's kids so they could have some adult time. Jeff was so cute laying on the floor playing with Rachel. He's come so far from not wanting to hold her to being very interested in what she does.
Sunday we went to church, then out to lunch with the in-laws. We went to a Thai restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised. The only other time I had Thai I got something with cilantro in it and since cilantro tastes like soap to me I hated it and just decided I didn't like Thai. Well I found a ginger tilapia dish that was great! Going to fini**** off for lunch today. After lunch we went home for a little while, then went to Financial Peace University early. We skipped it last weekend due to the move, so we had to go early to watch the video from last week. I'm really glad we did because it was on insurance and we learned a lot.
Ok, better get off of here. My new temporary boss is on his way in (got lost and made it all the way to LBJ freeway) and I'm betting I'll get to spend some time chatting with him today. Hope everyone has a great day! Make good choices and do something good for yourself today.

Mornin, Yall
I hope you guys had a wonderful Mother's Day!
It seems that there are alot of kids who dropped the ball! Mine included, kind of. I will be getting the herb garden that I wanted, I was told at lunch, but they kind of just ignored the specialness of the day. Sigh...oh well.
Big drama abounds...newly adopted son's step-dad was killed crossing IH 20 last week, and his funeral is tomorrow. It will be in the fashion of a Jerry Springer funeral, and I am not looking forward to it.
I will be sending love and support and hugs to Annette tomorrow...I wish that I could be there for you physically.
Have a great Monday, everybody!
Blessings,
Jenn
Good Morning OH Family!
Drinking my first cup of coffee and waiting for the storms to past so I can go buy a wireless printer. Kinda gettin tired of storms! Had a really good day yesterday.Ended up not going to church, just could not get everyone ready in time, so I ended up taking a bubble bath and making a Mimosa. I fixed brunch for Summer, Kirk,Rick and I. (Chad had to work.) Got a card from Rick and flowers and a bag from Summer. Will see Chad on Tue. I ended up going to the casino for a few hours won $300 stuck the voucher in my pocket and played for a while longer.Went to go ca**** out and I guess it had fallen out of my pocket! Made me sick! Than around 9pm Summer came by and wanted to go to the casino cause her friend that works there had some free stuff for us. Ended up winning $400 so I feel better. I was reading how some kiddos did not honor their mothers like they should have. Believe me my kiddos have had done the same thing in the past. I do think it is important to let them know that your disappointed. Some times they really just don't get it! Even Summer started whining yesterday(how tired she was blah, blah, blah) during brunch and I let her know that I was not going to allow her negativity to ruin it. She stopped! Well better get this day going. Prayers for our dear Annette. You are such a lady of grace, and we are all blessed to have you. Rick went back to work today, he is finally feeling better! Try and stay dry today!

We Can Do Hard Things
Ok.... we will cut Corbin some slack cause he is male, but for those of us that have girls they should know better! And as mother's it's not about the gift, we all have enough "stuff" it is a r-e-s-p-e-c-t thang. One year Chad gave me a 12 pack of diet coke for my 40th birthday! I very calmly said "sweetheart thank you for putting so much thought in my gift, that means a lot to me" He went out the next day and bought me my favorite candle and even tried to wrap it. He has done a good job as a husband and calls me often to ask for advice on what to get Mandy and always ask "is this a thoughtful gift?"

OK, I have to share the conversation I had with Jeff yesterday. First of all Jeff "does not believe in Hallmark holidays". Yeah, we've been working on that ever since we got together. I've explained over and over it doesn't matter if YOU don't believe in them, I do and your Mom does.
So we went to get his Mom flowers and a card on the way to church and I made the comment that hopefully next year he'll be getting me something for Mother's Day. His reply "You're not MY mom so why would I get you something?" I calmly responded, I'll be the mother of your child so therefore you get me something. His reply "I always thought it was the kid's responsibility to do that stuff." Hmmm, going to have to get him to understand that infants, toddlers, and even up to high school and beyond need some assistance and training on that.
I told his Mother about it and apparently this is something she's been working on training Jeff's Dad about for years. So I may be in for a long road on this....
