The NIGH****CHMAN 5/7
Evening. This is going to be a rough night. I got up at 1PM on 5/6 and have not been to bed yet. Babysat this morning. When I leave here in the AM, I guarantee I will get some sleep. I also called in 45 minutes PTO to add to my lunch, gonna take a nap then.
The things we do for our kids.
Not much else going on in my world.
Watched Survivor tonight. Doggone it, I wish they would turn on Coach.
Has anyone else sort of tuned out of CSI since Laurence Fishburne joined the cast? I just can't get into it any more.
Prayer requests are listed below.
I do ask that you keep me updated on requests. Often. Please.
Also, please feel free to just visit here. Tell us about how your day went. Your successes. Your failures. Your fun. Whatever. When I post this thread, I do not have access to any chat programs, so this sometimes substitute as that vessel for me.
Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness. Please thank God for these men and women every day. In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.
Three wonderful people - Ramon, Yvonne, and Debra - are having their conference in May (15-17) in Galveston. Prayers for a successful weekend of paying it forward.
PEOPLE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT:
James - Phyllis' "friend"
Jennifer - (Cruise Director Julie)
Nina
Those who are not yet unemployed, but layoffs are looming
Brenda F. - has some hernias.
Cindy Mc - a coworker has a 5 yr old son who was diagnosed at 3 with Metastatic Retinoblastoma. He lost his right eye, but through chemo and radiation it was thought the cancer was gone. It is back and spreading in his brain. There is no cure and they are treating him with some oral Chemo medication right now. I am just asking that you pray for Isaac Xavuer Vasques-Grimmett. He is a precious little boy who has been through a whole lot of difficult times in his 5 short years. We are praying for a miracle but if we can't get that... For God's mercy and grace to keep this precious little boy and his family from suffering too much.
Debra - has a couple of tests on 5/5 to try and determine complete cause of her problems.
Gina J. - Pray for her 6 year old Marina, diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 2. She has improved, but still needs our prayers. Pray for this brave little girl.
Jodie (Jodieblonde) - asking prayers for her friend Melissa and her family. Melissa's mother is in the end stage of Alzheimers and the family has been called together. Also prayers for Raymond's best friend's family. He lost his father to cancer on 5/5.
Karen (Misty750342002) - A friend of Karen's from work (who is like a son to her), Dustin Murphy, is 24 years old and has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease.
Stephanie (tickledpink) - friend, Dutch, was in a motorcycle accident. Arm broken in 3 places, surgery on 4/27.
Vicki V. - husband Patrick continues to have health problems. Awaiting results from neurological testing. More tests are upcoming this week.
Vanessa (Butterfly Reborn) - requests prayer for her family. There were no specifics, but I am sure the Lord knows.
Vanessa - We have all followed the story of Elizabeth. Here is her Caringbridge page:

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Hey there George;
Sorry I missed last night. Yesterday morning, I was doing my usual catch up on email, reviewing new job opps, etc. when there was a large explosion. The city is widening the main road that leads our subdivision sits off of from 2 lanes to 5. One of the contractors cut a 30" gas pipeline. Immediately, we lost our phone and internet. Shortly thereafter, we lost power. At that point, I grabbed my bikini, a beach towel and a book and headed to the pool at the club to wait out the afternoon. I should've taken my laptop and some sunscreen, too, but hindsight always is 20/20.
We were able to get back into our neighborhood around 5pm and at that point our power had been restored. When I woke up at 5am, the phone was still out, but when Michael checked it at 7:30am it was working so I'm not sure when it came back up. Our internet connection has been up and down all day today.
Fortunately, no one was hurt - even the equipment operator who made the initial cut into the pipeline.
When I got home, I was seriously fried from spending the afternoon in the sun sans sunscreen, but that was my worst injury of the day. I've been basking in aloe for the last 30 or so hours and I'm still red. This is rare for me as my heritage is Irish and Greek. Usually, I'm red for 8-12 hours and then turn a golden brown.
Today, I had a second interview for that position I'm not excited by. The business owner creeps me out to the point I would not want to be in the office alone with him without being armed. He called me a "girl" three times in today's interview before I asked him if the word "woman" was part of his vocabulary. He still wants to hire me even after that, but the money is going to be a serious issue. I told him I'd get back to him tomorrow with a price for the proposed programs I'd put together for today's interview. Today, I said $7K for developing the marketing concepts and then 25% of all new sales that result on a 90 day contract. He nearly choked. I told him I'd look at the concepts and hours again, but I'm thinking I don't want to work for him. And I don't want to do it for less than I'm worth or what anyone else with comparable experience would charge. But at the same time, it would be at least $7K in my pocket and only a 90 day commitment so I could keep looking for work in DFW and Atlanta. I don't want to make a desperate decision, but I also realize that things suck right now and maybe I should take what I can as long as I know it's temporary going in.
When I was able to check email this morning, I had a message from one of my former clients that a technology company he works with in ATL has a position open comparable to what I was doing and it hasn't been posted external, yet. He submitted my resume directly to his contact within the company with a great recommendation. It would be nice if that panned out.
I won't be around tomorrow night. Louis CK is one of my favorite comedians and he's doing a show in Austin. I'd bought the tickets a couple months ago. I'm looking forward to a couple hours of mindless enjoyment and entertainment and a reason to get dressed, hair done, make-up on, etc.
Sorry for the novel. I just needed to get it all out of my head and I'm open to everyone's opinions on my interview today.
Have a good night. Prayers for all who need them.

Hey George....
Hope you can catch a few zzzz's during your lunch break. I have to do a couple lunches and make a batch of cookies that I signed up to bring a couple weeks ago and just remembered I have to have down to the school by 9:30 am! YIKES!!!! Oh well, the house will smell good. Thank goodness for a convection oven so I can bake a couple batches at a time!
Went out to SBUX tonight to meet up with a few of the Katy Krew people. Not too many but no matter! ALWAYS nice to meet up with everyone! I was almost an hour late anyway as I had to pick Viktoria up from tennis but I got her home in a hurry and headed on out. Lynne was there with her daughter, Miranda. Lynne - you looked FABULOUS in color!!! The red was VERY nice!!! Much better than ALL drabby black! hehehe....
Better get moving. I don't really want to be up until 3:00 am or later baking cookies!
