We've both done good, that's for damned sure.  I would help you out in a heartbeat, Monique.  You are some kind of special.

Going back to the other side of the tracks, now...

Sharyn, I can't believe you're graduating!!!  Yippee!! Are you going to do L&D?  I've had a student with me the past 2 weeks doing a preceptorship and I wi**** had been you instead.  (She wasn't exactly motivated and didn't share my love for OB like you would of).

I'm thinking that drive would get real old in a hurry.  After 12 hour shifts, I'm exhausted and just want to "get home".  There will be lots of good jobs available but maybe not right now cuz all of you are graduating at the same time.  Be patient and you'll get what you want.  I'm not sure the sign-on bonus would be worth it with the cost of gas and wear and tear on your vehicle and your life!!

No matter what you decide, good luck and I'm so proud of you!!

I just accepted the offer in Bryan/College Station.  I am worried about the drive, but feel that I can do anything for a year.  The sign-on bonus is nice and will offset the cost of gas.  I am so excited!!!  I had goose bumps while I was on the phone with her this morning.

It is a med/surg/oncology floor.  I have decided that my long-term goal is to work in bariatrics, so med/surg would be a good place to start.  It's not that I don't love L&D, but I had a "moment" during the break before this semester started about the bariatric stuff.

Congratulations Shayrn!  I know the drive will be tiring but you will be doing what you are meant to do and this is just a foot in the door; sometimes soon you'll find your ultimate job closer to home.

I'm so excited for you hon!
