There used to be plenty of "ratty" furnished apartments for the students when I was there.  I lived in one nicknamed "the green slime".

Last time I was there it had been torn down - probably CONDEMNED!

Remember- I live in Spicewood - home of the Cedar Choppers and extremely rich people (and us.....) Rednecks can be scary.
Let me email my friend and see if she knows of anywhere up there that she could suggest. She did graduate about 6 years ago, but still goes there at least 3 or 4 times a year.

Congrats.

With the job market the way it is, I would lean towards saying take it.  Then, invest in joining some kind of audio book club or get some audio books from the library to make the commute easier.  I commuted from Grand Prairie to Richardson for about two years.  It was not 80 miles, but due to the time of day and the traffic, it was a 75 minute commute.  Audio books were my friend.

(Or you can try satellite radio)

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Definitely considering the audio books for the drive.  It will work out to be 75-90 minutes, one way.

I am inclined to take it, but still waiting to hear about an interview at a hospital in Austin.  They said they would let me know by today.

Hey There...

Well, if it makes you feel any better...I live in Katy and work in Houston....32 miles...and it takes me a good 60 minutes to get to work!  LOL  It's really not that bad.  Ask Valerie...she does the same thing!  LOL

Good Luck....remember, nothing ventured nothing gained!

I think it's definitely something I can do, at least for the one year commitment they are asking for (in order to get the retention bonus).

I am already driving 40 miles/45 minutes into Austin 4-5 days a week.  The shift would be days (7a-7p), 2 on & 2 off, 3 on & 3 off, etc.  And the pay is better than GNs are getting in Austin.

Congrats on the 6.5 miles!!!

Is the commute in horrible traffic???  Mine would be a very rural drive ~ just me and the cows.  It's the other drivers on the road that make me hate driving, so I think that would actually help the situation.

Hi there Sharyn,
I have been seeing your posts for several weeks now about you graduating and all I can say is WOW and CONGRATS!!!  It seems like only yesterday that you were talking about getting into nursing school and to finally see it come to fruition, well I can't help but feel like a "proud momma".  You will be a TERRIFIC nurse, I KNOW this.

My stepmom and 2 of my sisters are RN's so I LOVE and ADMIRE anyone who can care for the sick and helpless or just plain crazy....

I have NEVER forgotten your kind offer to help me when I was wanting surgery sooo bad.  That too seems like only yesterday.  And look at where we BOTH are now?  THANK YOU!!

Hugs,
Monica

P.S.  c ya on the other side of the tracks! lmao...

U tell me that I sin,
U say Im bound for hell,
So once ur judgment condemns U,
I SHALL SEE U THERE.

I'd rather be an OPEN sinner
than a FALSE saint...
