Im Scared!
"i choose to beleive I will be successful and I dont let negativity live RENT FREE in my head."
Very well said, Monique. I'm going to try to take that to heart. I believe one of the reasons I never lost weight successfully before my surgery was because I didn't believe I could.

Stacy, where are you located? There are lots of good support groups. Recommend finding one. Ask lots of questions.
Also, to me, the price of the vitamins is no problem because you will be spending less on food. What used to last you one meal, will now last three. Get used to leftovers.

Welcome Stacy,
First of all, don't freak out, take a deep breath in, and release, take another breath in and release. I am a fellow bandster, I am more than two years out, to date I have lost 91 lbs... you will find some other folks here that have lost more, but hey, I'm 50 years old, so I know I am going to lose slower than someone who is younger. Our vitamin regimen is different from some of the other surgeries, I do chewable Centrum, calcium w/D, sublim B12, and don't need anything special. Until you get proper restriction, there will not be much that you can not eat. At 2 years out, I can not eat anything made with white flour, ie, bread, tortillas. I have problems with any dry meat, chicken breast, dry pork, hamburger meat... but everyone is different, what I can not eat, you might be able to. Please read up on the surgery, you will need to maintain your results with periodic fills, as you get to a good restriction level, you will need to eat small amounts, with very small bites, chewing, chewing, chewing. Post any and all questions, someone will chime in with help, there are some wonderful folks here. PM me if I can be of any assistance. Don't freak, we're here to help out!!
Blessings,
Avis

Hi Stacy,
I can eat steak, canned chicken, moist pork, fish, shrimp, scallops, crab, hot dogs no bun (no they are not good for you), veggies, fruits, beans, cottage cheese, cheese of all kinds, swiss, cheddar, jack... I love my cheese. I have bandster friends that can eat most anything, just in much smaller quantities. What won't go down for me, you may not have any problems with. We are all different, it doesn't matter what surgery you have, you have to learn how to work the tool of your choice, none of them are "the easy" way out, they all require work on your part.
Good luck on your upcoming journey!

Stacy..... yes the advice everyone gave you is great..... but after this scare this last week....please research the surgery you are planning on having....everyone will have their opinion about surgery ..... ask your doctor questions..... i see you have the same doctor that ramon had.... you should email him and ask him questions i know he did not have a band but had the same doctor.....
its ok to be nervous but you have to be educated...... even me as far out as i am never thought that i would lack that much b vitamins and it could do this much damage in a short amount of time.....
please please ask questions and read all you can... i know some doctors will do a quick seminar and then schedule you for surgery....then are done with you....this is a life changing thing and its forever..... everyone is different no one has the same things going on with their body.... make sure your pcp knows about weight loss surgery..... or educate them.... as you go along.... its very frustrating to tell a doctor that certain things can happen because of lack of a vitamin and they dont know what you are talking about.....
please do some research and you are close to so many support groups take advantage of that....
