Need recommendation for San Ant f/u clinic
Hi! I am 2&1/2 years post-op (whooo-hooo) and fairly new to SA. Can anyone recommend a clinic/surgeon for follow-up care? My surgeon in MN said we should follow up with bariatric specialists for the first 5 years? Does that sound right?
Thanks!
Good luck and GOOD HEALTH!! Lisa in Richfield, MN

Welcome to SAT. I live here, but had my surgery in Austin, so I'm not too familiar with the bariatric practices here. However, most surgeons will not take on another surgeon's patient without a referral from the operating surgeon. Your surgeon in MN should have some contacts through ASBS events and other professional networks.
My surgeon released me from in person visits after 2 years. Now she just does what she calls a "chart check" which is my PCP faxes a copy of my labs to her, she reviews them and we have a phone conversation about any adjustments that need to be made. Obviously, if I'm having any issues, she's available to me, but I don't have to make the 90 mile drive unless I chose to. But as we all know from the breadth of post-op protocols, all surgeons are different.
