Topic: Walk From Obesity
I just noticed that Nashville is planning on having a fall Walk From Obesity. As a past participant for the last several walks, I would love to be involved once again. As a RNY patient who picked up photography after my surgery, I would be willing to offer my services.
If anyone knows anything about the planning of this upcoming event, you can reach me at:

Topic: RE: When Obesity Is A Crime
I'm of the opinion that the government needs to provide some sort of help for parents. Why could they not provide some sort of tax break or perk for those parents who attend some type of nutritional class as to teach their children the proper foods to eat? Many in our society do not know how to decipher food labels... I was one of those until I went into a program where they taught me what a lot of those things mean. Still.. there are lots of things on labels that are confusing, names you cannot pronounce, etc.... Instead of stepping in and taking children away or accusing them of abuse, there needs to be some sort of education that can be provided. Parents don't think they abuse their kids when they overfeed or let them endulge. Quite the opposite: many parents see it as love and giving love, showing their love (as my mother used to do... she couldn't give us much in the form of material possessions, but she could whip up a wonderful batch of chocolate or peanut butter fudge.... she could make pies, and cakes, and cookies to show us just how much we mean to her!) I know, it might sound strange, but there are people who feed others to show love.
It is sad, but I do agree with one aspect... something really needs to be done. Just not so certain that getting authorities involved is the answer.

Make sure they have done PLENTY of WLS patients - we have unique issues that normal people do not have. I am having mine in 4 weeks and will be using Dr. Wagstrom - she will take insurance for some procedures. I like her b/c she looks very down to earth and is concerned about the uniques issues we bring to the table. She is worth the $75 consultation fee.
good luck in your research!
BethHi there. I was searching on Wagstrom and found your post quoted here. May I ask if you are pleased with your results? She has been recommended to me by others here on OH for my hernia repair and tummy tuck. (Arms down the road if money ever comes in!)
I am almost two years out from my DS and vanity has reared its ugly head! Thought I would be satisfied with weight loss, but now I want more!

Topic: VitaTour Nashville May 31 at 6:00 pm
I'm sorry this is so late. I just let time get away from me, and all that.
So Michelle (Vitalady) and her husband (Vitaguy) will be in Nashville today and tomorrow. Yeah, I thought it was going to be the end of June, not the end of May.
Anyway, I've tried to find a cental-ish meeting place, but I've defaulted to something I know. China Pan is an Asian buffet in the Hickory-Hollow area. They have high protein choices available, you can pick out items for them to grill, if you prefer that, and they also have a room we can meet in if there are a lot of us able to come.
Really, I apologize that I've been so bad about getting this set up and publicized. I hope anybody in the area who has had WLS will be able to come and join us at 6:00 pm. We all have so much to learn from Michelle and it should be a lot of fun.
China Pan 5353 Mount View Road, Antioch, TN 37013-2308(615) 717-3338
I know that this is certainly NOT centrally located and that not everybody likes Asian-themed food. I probably shouldn't have volunteered for this job, because truthfully, I don't get out very much and I am not familiar with any restaurants that might be reasonably-priced in a more central location.
