Topic: RE: St. Francis Wt. Loss Center - Memphis
Hey there,
Glad you got filled in on the next step. I had my surgery here on 11-9-09 but I honestly couldn't remember the sequence of things.
I just remember that once I had jumped through ALLLL those hoops, they submitted to my insurance, which is Cigna through FedEx and the approval was quick! I think they responded within a week.
They scheduled my surgery for a few weeks out...I was disappointed to have to wait and just wanted to get it over with. Then they called and had had a cancellation a couple of weeks away so I got on the ball and started my Liver Shrink Diet and boom...here I am a year and a half later about 120 pounds lighter.
I don't get on this forum much now. (In fact, just came on to see if I could list some protein and vitamins that don't work for me to sell for cheap.)
But would love to hear how you do. Good luck to you!

I was able to talk to one of the nutritionist's at the support group this week and got a ton more information. She said if I could wait on Dr. Weaver to return from sabbatical, I could most likely have my pick of days to work around my school schedule this fall. (I'm back in school working on another degree.) She was so helpful and very forthcoming with information!

Topic: RE: Walk From Obesity
Scott, there will be four Walks from Obesity this year: Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Memphis. We have a call with the leaders from the four different areas tomorrow. Jennifer Jayaram at Vandy is the chair for Nashville, I'll make sure she's aware of your kind offer. I'm thinking we should have details for all the locations later this week/early next week. Thank you for volunteering!

Topic: St. Francis Wt. Loss Center - Memphis
Hi. I'm in Memphis. My insurance has approved me and I'm currently waiting on my psych approval to proceed at the St. Francis Center. I'm wondering for those of you who have used them, after you had your psych approval, what was next? And how long did it all take until you had a surgery date? I'm anxious to know and they are so stingy with information like that! They won't tell me anything except I will meet with a nutritionist next. That is all I know. So, what is after that?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sorry, I have no idea what non-surgical approaches he might use. However, he is incredibly intelligent and really cares for his patients. He will do the best he can to help you. Centennial has a very good team of non-physicians as well. I would imagine you will work with them in a non-surgical approach with better eating and exercise. I hope your experience will be as good as mine has been.

I LOVE Dr. Houston.
I had the DS Jan 11, 2010, so I cannot answer your non surgical questions. Just wanted to tell you I love him and so far so good with my DS.
best of luck to you.

Topic: Dr. Houston
I have an appt. with Dr. Houston this coming Thursday. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2006 by another physician and I didn't lose the weight I needed to lose for various reasons. So Dr. Houston is going to "adopt" me. He said that he was going to start out first trying the non surgical way to get back on track and see if I need surgery.
Does anyone have any experiences similar to mine that might help me? (i.e., what type of non surgical approach does he do? Did you like him/dislike him? etc...)
Thanks!
