I picked up some of these this morning. After yesterday I think I will eat only yogurt for a few weeks. If I ever feel hungry again! I look forward to trying them. I did notice they are fewer calories then the old flavors and in turn less protein. But with flavors like Carrot Cake how can you go wrong? LOL

Thanks for letting us know about them.

So excited for you!  It seems like yesterday I was fighting with the insurance...finally winning on appeal.  At one week post op, I can tell you that there are a lot of hurdles you will go thru and friends/family will help.  The liquid diet hell is first.  I will tell you from experience that don't worry about cheating as long as it is with good stuff like chicken and steamed veggies.  Days 3 thru 11, I substituted one protein shake for an actual meal of the above items.  I walked every day during the second week.  Get in your fluids & if there is one decadent food that you have to have once before you go under the knife...eat it!  I lost 14 pounds despite not following the all liquid deal and had good energy going into the surgery.  So go for it!  Think of it all as a process of changing your relationship with food...

Secondly, the surgery will make you feel like you were hit by a truck.  Take your drinking slowly afterwards.  (Remember to drink, burp, drink, burp, drink, burp).  I can tell you that I am learning the first bite or drink of anything starts off being vetoed by Sleevie but then he accepts it and we can get in more than you would think.  Remember, liquids first, then worry about protein.  For me, herbal iced tea goes down better than straigh****er.  I don't understand why, but it is that way!  You will have to learn the new cues from your new anatomy.

Best of luck and remember we are all here for you!

Approved !!

So relieved as today I found out I was approved and have a surgery date scheduled for 12/13. Wow.....so I will be starting my liquid diet in a couple days. WOW...can't believe its almost here. Its surreal. I almost feel like I'm in a different lifespace than everyone else. I have alot of anxiety about the surgical procedure, but more anxiety on how I will do post operatively because we don't have any family in the area and very few friends....so its just me and hubby, and the kids. Chad just started a brand new job and is a bit worried on asking them for some time off already......and I'm worried about how I'm going to handle the kids that week with school and stuff. We have some help from friends for 2 days to have the kids sleep over and take to school thank goodness !

But, this is for me. So that brings me peace that everything will work itself out !
and I am so glad to be on this forum everyone has been super helpful....I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving !!  I know it will be my "last supper" LOL

Topic: X-Post From VSG Board: 6 Months out in ONE week! :D <3
Y'all were probably expecting an update now, huh? lol SORRY!  No update yet, gotta write it first.  I'm going to talk about my journey thus far, of course, and give you all my statistics, and post pictures (DUH!) but I'm just wondering if there's anything specific any newbies (or vets for that matter) would be interested in knowing about. There's always lots of posts about "does such and such get better further out.." etc etc. Sooooooo if you want a 19 (soon to be 20 in about 2 weeks!) year old's experience on the matter, now is ur chance to ask me anything you'd like and I'll make sure I talk about it or at least mention it. I'm gonna try to be as thorough as possible for all the new faces out there!  It's really hard to believe it's been 6 months already. Time flies man, I'm tellin ya! I still feel like a newbie sometimes! lol Anyway, if no one has any questions or wants to know about anything in particular, that's cool too. Just consider this a heads up that I'll be cranking out an update in the near future!

I am 20 years old.
I'm 5'8" tall.
My highest weight was 444lbs.
I weighed 409 lbs on the day of surgery.
I had the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy procedure performed on June 1st, 2010.
168 lbs lost since surgery, nine months ago.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up.  I have gotten sick of yogurt so don't eat it much anymore.  But I will give these a try....

Oh, yeah.  Now I remember about your saying that.  Good grief...  I think I've lost all the weight Imma gonna lose so now my DS is attacking my brain cells.  My brain has really been addled lately.

So anyhow, I think we can plan on the 18th and see what happens.  In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving and have fun at Myrtle Beach.

I thought it was a funny comment.  I am at the lowest that I have been at in 5 years.

Topic: Got approval for my plastics! Yippy!
Hello all,

So lost 80 lbs from my RNY and none from my chest. So I am very top heavy now with tuns of back pain! So after months of treatments with a back specialist he finally referred me to a plastic for a reduction and my Ins approved it yesterday. My surgery is scheduled for Dec 1st! I am very excited! This is (what I hope) to be the last piece of the puzzle.

So I guess I wont get to be at the holiday party for Centennial after all. I will miss ya'll this year!

Talk soon,

Sher
