Thanks for putting the schedule on your signature. I am not going to be able to make the next one because of the state high school swim championship in Knoxville. My son swims and has state cuts. I will try to make the March meeting. I may call you sometime if that it is okay.
Thanks,

Hi.
Congratulations on your revision surgery.. That is exciting.. I did not have my surgery at Baptist so I can not relate any personal experiences with WLS there but I have several friends that have had their WLS there over the years and I have only heard good things.. Can’t remember hearing anything negative or adverse.. You will be in good hands..
As far as a list… here are a couple of tips that I have read about that you might find helpful..
Your own personal pillow
Your journal
Loose fitting clothes for the trip home
Lip balm or Chap stick
Slippers
I think outside of those items you may not care about anything else… LOL
Kelly,
Depression following WLS is very common.. After surgery many of us experience challenging situations. There are many factors that can contribute to this so that makes it difficult to pin point which one may apply to your situation if any. Things such as the anesthesia and or pain medication wears off, some people experience the mourning over the loss of food, then there is the length of time that a person goes through to adjust to a new way of eating.. Then consider the things that you did mention such as all the snow, stuck in the house and the recentness of quitting smoking.. All of those things alone or combined are paramount….
I want to encourage you to find it somewhere inside to fight the feeling of feeling as though you have no outlet.. I completely understand what you are saying… Your surgeons office would welcome your phone call to discuss these issues. Dr. Dyer’s office has a wonderful staff and I am sure if you call Pam Davis, she can make a referral for you.
Kelly, just remember you are not alone.. Many patients who qualify for WLS display signs of depression. Before, during and after WLS. I remember very vividly being 5’3" and weighing almost 300 pounds.. Most depressing time of my life…

For those who are new you may think 7 lbs in 47 days is a walk in the park, but I am 1 year and 7 months out of surgery so I am to the point where I have to really work hard for every ounce and openly admitting it, I have not been working at it which is why I haven't made my goal.
My husband and I are taking a trip to see his family in March, we have not seen them in 3 years and 83 lbs ago. I want to be at my goal weight (finally) when I get there. So what is the best way to get back on track? I know watching what I eat, no snacking, don't drink with food these are easier said then done some days. Work, stress you know all those things that don't go away just because you had surgery.
So what are my choices. Do the 5 day pouch test? Go back on the Dr's liquid diet? Any old timers have some advice on how you get back into it? I would love to attend a support group, unfortunately online is about the only ones I can make it to for awhile anyway. I have the determination (today anyway) and a goal date. What have you all done to jump start your loss again?
Thanks for all the help,
Sher
