Thank you Melissa!  I appreciate you sharing your story with me.  That is exactly what I am going to do.  Get a good therapist and take my meds.  I need to figure out the head stuff so I can be healthy all the way around.  Take care.

I've was diagonosed with depression many years ago and since then I've grown to realize that I have a mental illness and that I needed help. It has been a long and tough road with a lot of the toughest part of that road having come in the last two years, but I can share this with you it is one of the most satisfying roads to walk when you reach your recovery point.

I think my recovery with my mental illness, that includes depression and multiple types of anxiety, is similiar to what I am now doing with my weight recovery. I am putting myself first, i am getting the help I need with both medication management and talk therapy, I am on a path to self discovery, and I'm making me better. With my weight loss I have done the same things. I have access to a team that cares for me, I'm eating right, and exercising, and I'm putting my recovery first.

I know it might be a tough road, but don't be afraid of the meds or the talk therapy. Doing them together will bring you a lot of joy knowing that you conquered this just like your weight loss.

(((hugs))) Melissa

Kelly,
I am scheduled to see my surgeon on 1/27  to schedule my surgery.  I am also planning to have a gastric bypass.  I live in Dyersburg and am planning on attending the support group in Martin.  I think it is on Tuesday nights at Sidelines Physical Therapy. Where do you live?  The other groups that were sponsored by Centennial were all in Nashville and surrounding areas.  This one is the closest one I could find.

Cue the spooky music...I was wondering how you and your lovely bride were doing and here you are with an update that is so uplifting.   I'm so glad you're enjoying your talent and let us know how you're doing.  Ain't life grand when you can actually participate in it instead of sitting on the side and watching it pass by?

I had my VSG with Dr. Spaw on 09/07/10. My experience was awesome. Everyone was so nice and attentative. Even the people who bring you your food and clean the room were extremely nice and made sure I had everything I needed. I had a room to myself. I would say to bring some chap stick because you get really dry mouth. They gave me tooth paste and tooth brush. I wore the gown the whole time until it was time to go home then I just had my clothes that I wore to the hospital.

Let me know if you would like to know anything else

Hi, my name is Kelly.  I am scheduled for gastric bypass surgery on Feb. 7th at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.  It is a 4 hour drive round trip for me to go to support meetings.  I am looking for a support group that might to closer to home maybe in Jackson, TN, which is only an 2 hour round trip.
