6 Month wait is over! My Update

I finished my mandatory 6 month diet yesterday. I am so glad that is over! I actually did not lose much weight. I only lost 8 pounds total in the 6 months or 15 pounds total since my first weigh in with Vanderbilt last year (prior to this diet). I guess I should be grateful that I did not gain. My Dr (although right) made me a little upset yesterday when he asked why I was being lazy and a slacker with my diet and exercise. I felt like he could have worded it a different way! Now I am starting to doubt the approval because I did not lose enough weight. I did have a problem one month with some new medication that caused me to swell big time and I gained 10 pounds in one month. Once they got my medication under control and gave me fluid pills, I lost 15 punds the next month. So I basically lost what I had gained plus some. My Dr is faxing over my records to Vanderbilt on Thursday. I will follow up with them on Friday to make sure they got it and are getting it submitted to Cigna. I hope it all goes smoothly. I have invested over a year of my life to getting approved for this surgery and have done every possible test, seen every Dr, nutritionist and psychologist possible. I have done everything Cigna has asked. I wrote a personal letter to them that I am including in my file when it gets submitted again. Not sure if that will matter or not. So, here I am. Hopefully, I will know something in the next couple of weeks if I am going to get approved for this surgery or not! Sorry I have not been on the boards as much in the past few months. It is very depressing going through the six month diet and having to wait for approval. Especially since this is the only thing on your mind. I felt like my life was/is on hold. I tried not to be on the boards so much thinking that I could keep my mind off of it but that didn't work out to well! Here I am. Everything is now out of my hands and control. There is nothing more I can do. Time to wait and see! Wish me luck on getting the approval! Thanks! Misty

I wouldn't worry about not losing much weight, at least you lost weight I didn't lose any weight on my 6 month diet. Perhaps you should include a photo of yourself with your personal letter?? Doctors can be such egotistical *****s sometimes...overly blunt..but then again I guess their job isn't to be nice and sugar coat things. It sounds like you've done everything you can, you'll get your approval! Waiting for the approval is the hardest part. Let me know if you need anything April

Misty, honey, all you need to remember is to do your best. That's all anyone can ask of you. You did the diet, they can't ask for more. Keep your spirits up, and your head held high and keep positive thoughts and people around you. But get your butt back on board. This is where your support is and this group cares about you. Hey Misty, Oh my goodness girl, I know how you feel!!! The six month diet is a long wait, and esp since you had already done your other testing. But now it's behind you and everything will move really quickly from here on out. I'm having surgery two weeks from today, and I thought it would never come... I thought I would never get approved, and I did. Trust me everything works out for the best!!! Misty You did it..You made it through that 6- month diet. You deserve this It takes a strong person to hang in there with this diet and you did it. It is time to you can relax now. The real hard part is done you did everything required of you. It does not matter what your doctor think's only what you think. You should be proud that you lost weight. Each person lose's weight differently. If weight loss was easy then everyone would do it. I think it is cool that you stayed on your diet.
