Potassium
Hi I found out some very interesting news. My oncologist doesn't think it's the Gleevec chemo that is causing my potassium to drop like it does. I read some info that Gleevec has been known to cause potassium levels to drop drastically in older patients. On Monday my potassium was 3.4, normal is 3.6-5, today it's 2.6 and I haven't been on any water pills all week, my legs are swollen and the kidneys aren't functioning as well. Tomorrow my GI Dr. is doing another scope down my throat to make sure the ulcer in my pouch is a bleeding ulcer. Now I am waiting for home health to come out with the pole, pump, and the potassium/saline to push as much as possible into me before noon tomorrow. Please send up your prayers, that I will have enough potassium in me to get this done tomorrow and wake up from it. Thank y'all soooooooo very much for always being there for me. With this type of leukemia, I feel like I am the only one having to deal with it, and it's a lonely feeling.

Hi Maria, thank you and how are you doing? Just think your a loser now. It's a great feeling to just wake up each day and see the pounds disappear. Now that I am losing and really working out, my sweat glands are no longer clogged with fat, and now I am working up a sweat as before, I wasn't. I felt like I wasn't putting my all into the workouts. I am actualy normal, I have sweat glands. And now I have to move my seat up a lot just to reach the gas and brake pedals. My stomach no longer touches the steering wheel. It's a rush each day. Don't push yourself and over do it, take it slow each day but make sure you walk as much as possible. Love Kathy
Hey, how are you doing? How did things go? I did call your number and left you a message. Thank you April, Now we know for sure that it's the Gleevec chemo that is dropping the potassium. Now I need to see what my Oncologist is going to do about it, but I don't see her until the end of May. Need to get to bed, I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open. Love ya, Kathy
