Still No Date

So I've been approved since the April the third. And Beth and Jennifer have had my offical letter faxed to them ( by me, so I know that they have it ) since friday. Why is it thrus. and I have no date!!! It seems like everyone else got theres pretty quickly once they were approved. I wouldnt be so frustrated if it weren't for the fact that I need to make plans ( should I go to summer classes, will I be able to go to vacation this June or should I try and get a credit for the money that I have already paid and go later?? Plus I'm supposed to be going to California for the 4th of July!!! ) I'm busy during the summer and the varible part is when my surgery will be and will I be able to do any of the stuff that I have planned!!! No one at Vanderbilt returns call ( except Beth ) and esp. not Jennifer. She makes me more mad than any of them, you wanna know what, she took longer to make PHOTOCOPIES and give them to Beth, then Cigna did to approve the surgery!!!! OK I'm calmed down, I just needed to vent, I know there busy, but with insurance companies paying 20,000 or more a surgery you would think they would be able to hire some more help!!!! Have you communicated to their offices that you have things coming up this summer that you are planning around your surgery? I called my doctor's office and said, "Here's my approval number, lets talk surgery." I don't know anything about the program at Vandy or any of the doctors. I'm sorry you don't your date yet. As a very nice lady said to me Keep your chin up. It will happen soon. I still think it will work out that our surgery dates are the same or very, very close to one another. Well I have great news!!!! I got my date!!!! It's on May 18 at 7:30. Which works out great because that will be two weeks after I have finals and exactly a month before I am supposed to leave for florida ( I might not be feeling up to riding any rides at Universal Studio's or DisneyWorld, what do you guys think? ) So I am thrilled!!!! I was finally able to get Jennifer to pick up her phone, and she didnt even have to leave her desk to tell me the date, it was right in front of her, how hard was that??? I'm just sooooo happy things are moving along. Luv, Jacqueline

HOORAY! This is so exciting!

Hey sweetie, I know it's frustrating, but think of it like this, you may not have a date yet, but you are past the worst of it with the insurance company. There are a lot of surgeons who use Vandy, and Vandy also has a waiting list. Not to pull you down, but a friend once approved had to wait over 3 months for Vandy to have an OR available. Let your surgeon know about your plans for the summer, and don't let up until you get your date. But you also may find you won't be doing all the traveling that you are planning. That's why I had mine done when it was cold out, so that my summer and early fall plans weren't ruined, plus I get staph infections when it's hot out. Keep your chin up, and your day will come.
