All the approvals and I'm still waiting. Bleh. I called BCBS today and was told the same thing I've been told since they got it, "it has been received and it being reviewed". There are no notes entered on it, can't tell the progress, nothing. Am I asking the right question? I saying, "I'm calling to check on the progress of my pre-determination request for weight loss surgery." Should I say it another way? Is there a secret knock? A password? Ok, whine over. Back to work Congrats to all of you that have gotten approved this past week! You're almost there!! Marianne

Wow, Jacqueline, You called your insurance company everyday? I'm waiting, waiting, waiting too. I called them on Mar. 29 to make sure that they received the info. that was faxed by my drs. office and they said they had received it. Then I called again today to find out if there was any progress and all they will tell me is that it is in review. I've been kind of afraid they will not approve me if I call too often. One of the posts above mentioned something about notes on the file, etc. Nobody at my insurance co. will tell me anything about any notes and it's driving me crazy! As you can see patience is not one of my finer qualities How long did it take all of you to get a response from the insurance co. from the time of first submitting all the necessary info.? Tell me it's just weeks and not months!!!! I'm going nuts waiting! Luv, Melodie

I called every freakin' day. They told me it was ok to call every day and it was no bother. I took them at their word From the time I faxed my paperwork to the date of approval was ten days. Everyone told me that BCBS sends a denial letter first and then they approve. Not me! I got it on the first submission of information. The folks at my surgeon's office know exactly what the insurance company wants and gives it to them. I can't wait to meet with the surgeon and get my date! Marianne

Hi I was approved on Tuesday. My insurer is BCBS as well and I called and called them every week on the same day for a status. It took 42 days for my approval to come through. Of course the staff at Centennial were calling as well and finally got a hold of a facility nurse that confirmed the approval. Hang in there..

Well, i would have been calling everyday, if they weren't so darn quick, lol. I'm not good at waiting either!!! I was told my paperwork was faxed over on Wed. so I called to see if it was recieved on thrusday and it was. Monday I called as a flook, just to see if there was any progress on it, and I found that it was approved!!! I wouldn't be shy about calling, I mean it's not as if the doctors or nurses that are reviewing your file will be picking up the phone, its just a customer service call center. They just read you the notes or info entered into the computer by someone else. Do what you think is best but, I wouldn't consider it bothering them at all~ take care, and don't worry you'll have your answer soon!! Luv, Jacqueline
