APPROVED!!!! And a Question???
Hi All,
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile been busy with work and my fiance'. But I have good news I called to check the status of my Pre-Determination for surgery with BC/BS of AL and they told me on the phone that I meet all the requirements and that I had been approved and to expect the letter in the mail any day now. I am hoping to have surgery the first week or so of May. I have a question though, because of some reason events out of my control I won't be able to use the surgeon that I have. The surgeons office has referred me to Centennial Bariatrics. Has anyone had Dr. Houston? If you have could you please give me some information on what to expect of him and his staff? Well Thanks everyone for your help. I have been waiting to post this for awhile and now that I have the chance I'm glad the time has come.
Larry,
Hi Larry!
Welcome to the TN Board.
I'm having surgery on April 11th with Dr. Houston at Centennial. He is pretty straight to the point and very sincere. The staff at Centennial so far has been very exceptional. Dr. Houston's nurse, Holly, is super friendly and very personable. They provide you with a 3-ring binder of all the information you'll need.
Centennial has a website that is pretty informative with a calander of events: www.cmcwls.com
Dr. Houston and his fellow surgeons have a forum here at ObesityHelp.com as well:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask
Good luck!
April

First off Larry I want to say congrats to you for getting approved!!! I bet you are so very happy. I am planning on going to Centennial but the dr. that I think I will be is seeing is Dr. Dyer. I drove by there today & it seems nice bceause it is in it's own building. (YEAH!) But I would be interested in knowing how this dr. will work out for you!
Nicole,
Thank you for your offer. I'm sure you know what it's like trying to get approval through BC/BS of AL then, it was a nightmare. It seems that the first request they always lose for some reason. And then with the 2nd request they always need more information. And then with the 3rd (which is all the exact same material that was in the first 2 requests) they seem to approve it.
I work here in Nashville in the Operations Center and I'm sure that you have heard that we are closing down at the end of this month and what I'm really worried about is whether or not my COBRA plan will cover the surgery. If you have any information on that it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
Larry,
