Hello everyone, I have been through the seminar with dr. Husted at Baptist, but my insurance doesn't cover the surgery with him, so I have found dr. Dyer(I hope I have that right) at Centennial and at the moment I am waiting to see if my gyn. will do my letter for me, my P.C. dr. wants me to see her for 6 months!! My insurance doesn't require that. So right it is a waiting game to see if my gyn. will do the letter for me. Has anyone else had any other dr. besides a P.C. dr. write the letter of approval for the surgery?

I'm sorry I can't answer your question Kim, but I just wanted to say Welcome to the TN Board and good luck getting approved. I'm surprised your insurance doesn't require the dr. supervised diet. That is awesome! I'm having my surgery at Centennial with Dr. Houston on April 11th.

Hello April!!! No my insurance is quiet different I guess. Maria W. that is a member here also is a friend of mine & our husbands work together so our insurance only requires us to bee at least 100 lb's. overweight & of legal age. So I guess we are lucky. Maria had her surgery today, she is in pain, but she has her medication pump. I will try to go see her tomorrow. But, I just found out today that gyn. doesn't want to write the letter, so I have to find out what will happen now, I don't want to use my PCD, but I may have to. BTW, April, I will be praying for you, while you are having your WLS I will be having oral surgery!

I was wondering about Maria.. I knew she had her surgery. Let us know how she is doing when you go see her. I hope you can find someone to write your letter of medical necessity. Good luck with your oral surgery. I had all 4 wisdom teeth surgically removed at the beginning of March. It wasn't too bad..they gave me plenty of pain medicine. Thanks for the prayers

Maria is doing as good as can be expected, she is having pain but it is more like gas pains & she says she is weak & thirsty though.(I am on the phone with her as I write this) She sounds wonderful, but a little tired.

Hi and welcome to our board. I had a letter of medical necessity from all my Dr.'s. From my PCP, GI, shrink, heart, lung, all of them wrote letters. PCP has to write a letter, and if he won't or is against the procedure then you need to start looking for another PCP. He will be handling most of your care after surgery. So you need a strong supportor in your PCP. I wish you much sucess and May God travel with you on your new journey. Always here, Kathy 277.5/283/269/224 weights since just be fore my surgery, goal 130

Hello Kathy!!! And thanks for the WELCOME!! And for the words of encouragement also. The thing is my PCD said that WLS would be a great jump start for me, but she wants me to see her for 6 months, she says that it is for the insurance company, but my insurance company doesn't require that, so that is why I wanted to ask my gyn.. I will find out more information tomorrow, if need be I would gladly have a three-way conversation with both offices. LOL!
