Any help would be great i know the wait is the hardest to bear but i'm nervous....i want this soooooo bad !
Hi Salena, each insurance company is different. I can tell you with 90% of them, require a 6 month Dr. supervised diet before approval. BCBS requires it. You may want to check into that. That 1% who doesn't require it are the self pays. The other 9% are medicare patients. I wish you the best in everything. Kathy
Salena, Before you lose your current insurance, you need to verify if the surgery is a covered expense with VHP. If you know for a fact and have been pre approved with BC/BS, you may want to consider doing COBRA for the three months lapse. It may be worth it. That way, you can keep your current insurance (BC/BS) and submit the surgery for approval. If you have been working with them all along, then that may be the best option. It may be fairly expensive to pay for COBRA for three month but you should consider it if they are already working with you and it is a covered expense. Just my opinion. Whatever you do, keep some insurance. You do not want there to be a lapse because then it could be considered pre-existing.
