Mornin' everyone! This morning I started trying to eat like a bandster even though I'm not even approved yet. I wanted to see what it was like BEFORE I reach the point of no return. I'm eating protein first, then veggies, etc. At any rate, while eating I started thinking of all the reasons why I want to do this. Of course, my health came first. I'm a type 2 diabetic, have high blood pressure, PCOS, etc. I'd like to live beyond 40! Then I started thinking of all the non-health, non-scale sort of things I wanted to accomplish. Here are a few I came up with. 1. Ride that $400.00 bike I bought two years ago. 2. Go to Disney. I haven't been since I was 14. I'd like to go back and ride the rides and am afraid to right now. 3. Buy that cute Rolling Stones shirt I saw the other day that only went to an XL. 4. Go white water rafting. My dad went a few years ago and loved it. I've been afraid to go due to my weight. 5. Go to more plays, shows, concerts. I don't go because the seats are so uncomfortable. Do you how much I want to go see the Preds play but don't because I won't fit? 6. Swing on a park swing. Yes, with the kids. Do you remember that feeling? Like you were just going to fly away. Did you ever see if you could swing high enough to touch your feet to the leaves on a tree? I remember it and want to do it again 7. Take a trip to some tropical location. Again, it's the seat thing. I don't want to have to buy two seats. I flew once before and had to get a seatbelt extender. That was awful. I felt like everyone was watching me. 8. Go hiking and camping. I can do the camping part right now but my body is SO not down for the hike. I want to explore trails and see waterfalls and beautiful views. We have some awesome hikes right here in Tennessee. Those were eight things I came up with in about ten minutes. I think I'm going to make a list and put them on my pantry door. Everytime I think about getting in that pantry to find something to snack on I'm going to see that list. Cookies, chips, etc. WILL NOT get in the way of the things I want to do. They just can't anymore. As I said in my letter to my insurance company, "I'm tired of dying a little every day. I want to LIVE!" Thanks for listening. What do you want to do? For the more "senior" bandseters, what sort of goals did you set and how are you doing? I have my eyes on the prize Marianne H.

That is a great idea! I have made the same list mentally lots of times. I started a liquid diet today in prep for my surgery in 8 days. I thought it would be harder that this. But I know that I will need a little motivation in a day or so! I love your attitude and quest to live a full life. I feel the same...I am too young to not be living while I can. One of my goals is to be able to get married to my fiance and completely enjoy a fun and active honeymoon with him! Thanks for the inspiration today!

Marianne Boy can I understand where you are coming from . In my paragraph I had to write for my approval package . I listed I wanted to be able to run and play with my kids and not have to just sit on the side . I want to bea fun grandma who can play out in the yard and chase after the grandkids who are so close in my future ( my kids are 22.19.16.15. and 3) There is so much out there that is not just health related to getting rid of this exta adult I carry around everyday normal clothes seatbelts that fit right ..not worrying about funiture or if I can fit in a booth at the resterant . Hang in there We will get there . Hugs Laura
