depression

Does anyone else get depressed during this awful process. I am feeling so depressed. Just wondering if it was just my emotions or if others out there are like me. Please say a small prayer that God will get me through this process.....Wanda

I definitely felt really down and just not my normal self during the whole process. I didn't really start feeling better until after I got approved. All I can tell you is to just take one day at a time, take some time for yourself, away from the whole WLS process. I wish you the best!

i THINK IT IS VERY NORMAL . mOST OF US HAVE SO MUCH INVESTED EMOTIONALY (sorry about the caps ) in trying to get the approval . Lets face it it has taken alot to make the descission to have WLS . Now we have to jump through hopes and have very little control over things at this point . We play a game of hurry up and wait over and over . It can be very draining . Hang in there and just try to let go of the things you can not control and keep your faith. Laura

Hi Wanda, you're human. God gave us tears to cleanse the eyes. We cry for depression, happiness, sorrow, joy, and it's ok. I cry everytime I have had to be readmitted. You aren't alone. Everyone here has gone thru just what you are going thru. Do you see a psych or a shrink? Talk to them. They will understand. This board of friends, families, and strangers are all here for you, me, and everyone else. Please don't feel bad by letting us know you are depressed from all the processing. Feel free to vent, or shout for joy. Just know it's okay, and we're here for you. May God travel with you on this new journey. My love goes out to you, Kathy

Hi Wanda. You are not alone. It is normal to go through this stage. The best advice I can give is to take you self away from the situation for a week (or longer). Although this board was is a great help to me, I became depressed and obsessed with the process of the surgery. You sometimes just have to stop. Do not allow it to have control over you and be the only focus in your life. Take a week and do and think about anything else. Stay busy. I know it is easier said than done but if you can just not think about all of this for a week, you will feel so much more refreshed. I also agree that it doesn't hurt to see a psychologist. More than likely, your insurance will cover the appointments. It can help pre and post surgery. (I know one in Gallatin that I can give you the information on if you decide to go that route.
