Cigna paid for my consult visit!
Color me shocked and awed. I was previously under BC/BS and was told in no uncertain terms that they would not pay for the initial visit with the surgeon's office and I had not expected Cigna to pick up the tab, either, but I just checked on line and lo, and behold, there is an EOB that says they have paid and member responsibility is $25.00 for specialist co-pay! Wooohooo! I was expecting to have to pay $271.00.
Now if only Magellan will cover the cost of the psych eval.
That's great!!! I've had really good luck with Cigna so far, they paid for my consult, they paid for my visits with the the R.D. the pych eval, and sleep test, all with no problem. I only hope that I have this good of luck when it comes time to ask for surgery!!! Good luck with everything!

I had wonderful luck with Cigna regarding my surgery! They paid for my consult, my pre-op testing, my surgery (with the exception of my part which ended up being about $2,000), but they did not pay for my psych evaluation. They said that Karen Starr (with the Vandy program) was not a psychologist, but rather something else (been too long for me to remember the details!) I think they said she was a social worker and they wouldn't cover her visit. Anyway, I would gladly pay my 2150.00 for my surgery all over again!
Take care, and best of luck with Cigna! I hope you have the great luck I did!
