Sleep Study Test
Hi Bathsheba. I have had the sleep study but with a different insurance co. Actually, having the sleep study is a general routine test that most Dr. make you have before surgery. The worst part about it is sleeping in a strange place. I was unable to get much of any sleep when I did it because I do not like sleeping in strange places alone (my husband is usually with me in hotels or such). They do place all of these wires on your head and face. They have to put this sticky glue all in your hair to get them to stick. Washing your hair to get that stuff out was fairly painful. But the wires in general are not that bad. I could get used to them. One thing you should do, is ask your PCP to prescribe you one sleeping pill (like a Lunesta) and that will help you sleep for that night. Good luck. I found out I had Sleep Apnea when I did the test so I was thankful to actually have the test and find that out. I didnt realize that I had it and I was trying to fight to not take the test but good thing I did. It will be fine.
Misty
I'm with Misty. The wires can be tolerated but I had some trouble sleeping because being in the bed by myself. I've 4 tests done and their all the same-wired up like a machine in a strange place. The latest ones were better though. I actually stayed at a sleep lab that was very much like a hotel. The first two were in a hospital.
At the time of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ones I had aetna and they paid with no problem. The 4th one was with Blue Cross/BS of Tn-POS and they were no problem. The one scheduled next week is with Cigna. Good luck!
