I'm new here and wanted to say "hi"
I wanted to post and say hi to everyone. I'm hoping to get help from some of you that have made your goal. I'm frustrated. I had my Open RNY Oct.4,2004. I lost 100 lbs.the first four months. Then slowly 20 more lbs. But for the last 8 months nothing. My surgeon says I'm okay, that my body is just holding on to what I have left. I've tried exercise, more protein and still no luck on losing any more. My plastic surgeon says when he removes my excess tummy I'll probably loose 20 lbs.,I hope so. But I'd really like to lose about 30 more lbs. before my skin removal. Any suggestions or encouragement??? Thanks for letting me get this off my chest, Belinda Alley Kingsport,TN
Hi Belinda! Welcome to the boards. Congratulations on your success!!!
Losing 120 lbs is wonderful! It sounds like you lost very quickly at the beginning. That may be why you have "stalled" the past several months. My only recommendation is to write down everything you are eating (and drinking). Maybe show it to your Dr to see if he has any suggestions on changes that could help you. Everyone is different. It could be you are not getting enough protein or fluids - or something else. Do you know what your BMI will be when the excess skin is removed? Will you be about the goal your Dr set for you? It could be that are getting close to the "normal" range of weight for your body type and that normally will always cause a stall. Just keeping working for it and you will get it. Again, Congrats on your weight loss to date!! You are doing GREAT!
