Will ,you my friends tell me what you think? I will read each answer carefully. Your Undecided friend, Tina

Hi Tina. I have to start my diet Monday. Diet is such a bad term to use and think about. I do truly think you should start now and not wait. I know that I will probably cheat on Christmas (and my birthday) as well. But, I am not going to let that effect me. Even if you "cheat" on your diet, forget it and move on. Start fresh the next day. A lot of people get it in their mind that they ruined it and they are going to just stop dieting. Even if you gain weight, you should still stick to it. There is always tommorrow. Just shake it off. A new day and a new beginning. The only thing you can do is try. You can not do anything more than what you can do. We are all here for support if you need it. I know I will need it! You should start now so you won't delay your proceeding with your surgery. Let this month count. Good luck on your decision and your new "eating lifestyle change" (that sounds better that diet) Misty

Tina, First of all, erase the word "diet" from your vocabulary. This is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Second, erase the phrase "cheat a little" as well. If you plan on including a few goodies in your 1500 calories, then the term cheating doesn't apply. Remember portion control will be a huge part of your post op eating plan. I would recommend going ahead and starting your new eating plan now. There are accommodations that can be made so that you can still enjoy all the wonderful Christmas treats. Portion control will be your key to having your cake and eating it too. Good luck. Toni
