When will this Burping Stop???
I had my surgery Monday, October 31st - 13 day's ago. I have a condition that Dr. Boyce refered to as Gastric Bypass Distention - which means the lower/remant stomach has not completely "woken" up yet and is getting with the program. I have a bag attached to my drain tube that is collecting yucky smelling bile stuff from the remant stomach that is not going through the intestines as normal procedure. When I questioned Dr. Boyce and then his staff as to why I am having excessive burping with nothing coming out the bottom they are unclear as to what is going on. Their response was that I was getting too much air when I drink however this morning when I got up (nothing to drink at this point) I have burped a total of 9 times and only managed to poot twice.
Anyone have this problem? I feel so alone on this and am going to work tommorrow and can't keep burping all through the day.
P.S. GASAX offers some relief, but not much.

I too had ALOT of burping for the first 3-4 weeks, and when I wasn't burping my body was gurgling. I was very embarrased, but everyone was nice when I explained that I couldn't help it. Gas-X helped some. I never found out the cause (never asked...just figured it was normal), but I also didn't have any drains. I am a year out now and certain foods and or drinks still make me burp alot. Milk is the worst. Try experimenting and seeing if its worse after you drink or eat something in particular. Just know you aren't alone in this, and "this too shall pass!"

I burped a lot and had that uncomfortable gassy feeling. I had trouble with bile movements in the beginning and went to the supositories. After a few days things were very normal from both ends and a lot of the stomach noises ceased. I'm not sure if this helps or not. I never tried the gasX. I took tums to help settle my stomach. Hopefully you will find relief soon.
