What type of 6 months doctor supervised diet plan did anybody use.. I have my medical records and it shows the weight gain and my pcp documented that I was trying to lose weight... can use some help here.. I've already been denied, now Vandy said that they could not pull a 6 month period out of the records to send back to insurance.. Looks like no surgery for me.....

Before I made the final decision to pursue WLS, I convinced my husband to join Weigh****chers with me in Jan. 05. I enjoy the meetings, the accountability and support. I have never tried any other weight loss programs or pills. I am very strange about fad diets. Long story short... my husband has lost 119 pounds and I have lost about 20 pounds. I can say he is the healthiest thin he has ever been. Although I have not had matching success at least I have not gained 20 pounds over the course of 10+ months and I feel very good about proceeding with WLS, hopefully in early Jan. 06.

My insurance accepted Weigh****chers as a supervised diet. I just submitted the little cards that they record your weight on every week. Don't give up, you can still get this accomplished.

If you have a supportive PCP, you can go to your PCP for weigh ins once a month for 6 months. That has to be your primary reason that you visited your PCP. They will document your efforts make recommendations and chart your weight. This is acceptable to insurance. When I went to Dr. Hadi's office that was a recommedation made by them if I didn't have the upfront money to pay for their 3 month program. My insurance accepted either their 3 month program or a 6 month one through my PCP. BC/BS will accept the 6 month one with your PCP but not the 3 month. Surgery is not out just postponed to make sure all is in order. Just another hurdle to get you closer to your goal. Hang in there! Lisa

Kip, You best not be giving up. Have your PCP put you on the 6 month Dr. Supervised diet and weigh-ins. Your day will come to join us on the losers bench. Sweetie, if I can get approved, the other 95% can too. You can do this. Just look at it this way, what you lose over the next 6 months, is pounds gone forever, it will be easier on you when you do have the surgery. I'm here to help you in anyway you need. Kathy
