Get A Load of This

It has been a while since I last posted anything here. But get a load of this. Since the last post, hubby has lost his job and now there is no fighting with the Insurance and HR department. But I thought since I was not going to be able to have my surgery for a while, I would try and help myself and I went to the L A Weight Loss Center to sign up. You are NOT going to believe this. After I finished filling out all the papers, I was informed that I could not do the program because I have been subscribed Nitro tablets by my doctor. We faxed a paper to the doctor and he stated that I had to be on these. So that is shot in the foot...Anyone have any suggestions??

Rhonda, I am soooo sorry. I have no suggestions, but I can say I will keep you in my Prayers. I am Pre-op as well, & hope to soon have this over so I can be healthier & happier. I will put my thinking cap on & see if I can come up w/something to help. Thing's will start looking up soon tho, so keep your chin up. Sara.

Hi Rhonda. I am doing the same thing as you. Ark Rehab occasionally, but not often, pays for WLS. They have had absymal success with the WLS's that they have paid for, so they make it near impossible to get them. Although few people are income disqualified, the problems with going through them are multiple - there isn't a doc in Ark who does DS, so I'd be limited to RNY or lap band, neither of which I want. Their qualifications are VERY restrictive anyway - you have to be on THEIR wt loss program for a year (and still qualify after that...) and have a 55 bmi plus multiple co-morbs. But they ARE rehab, and the whole point of them doing rehab is to get people back into the work force. So I am going to use them to try to get into good enough shape to work, and then see if they can help me get a job with a company that covers WLS of any sort. I'll fight the DS battle as long as they at least cover SOMETHING. I just got accepted to the program last week and they will cover medical care, diet, and exercise issues to get me strong enough to work a 40-hour week. There are about 4 links on this page that you might check out to see if TN will do the same thing for you- or perhaps even pay for WLS if it's the only thing that will make you well enough to go to work. http://www.state.tn.us/humanserv/rehabilitation.htm Would you please post whatever you find out here? There are probably others in your place that could benefit from hearing the info. My suggestion otherwise would be to go somewhere else. They all promise the same thing - and we all know where all diet programs end anyway. Perhaps someone else is willing to work around your health issues- there can be nothing but good coming from a restricted diet if you have heart problems, and most any of the diets from places like that will be heart-healthy. They're just worried about covering their rear ends. You don't want to deal with people who have that as their prime objective anyway - and you CERTAINLY don't want to give them gobs of your money. Weigh****chers has a good program and since you're eating regular food and not taking any supplements that can effect your heart rate, you shouldn't have any problems. I was able to lose 47 lbs in 9 mos with WW back in 2002. Good luck. Toni

Hi Rhonda, I'm sorry to hear about your delay on the surgery, but it may be for the best. I had my surgery on Nov 8th and had some complications so now I wish mine hadn't been so soon..... Anyway how about you try Weigh****chers or Jenny Craig, or maybe just join a professional gym such as Court South or National Fitness. I belong to National Fitness and they don't judge you there as far as what you weight. They don't look down there nose at you either. They are great to help in any way they can. Good luck and keep us posted as to how you are doing. Sincerely Faith Martin LAP RNY 11-8-05
