insurance change

I have BCBS the State Plan and I have just completed all the necessary requirements and it was sent to the insurance company today. Now I am told that we are changing insurance companies to Cigna POS. I called Cigna, they stated that it was covered if medically necessary, but in looking at their website, it has a new set of guidelines and steps I must follow and none of the bariatric surgeon seem to be in-network doctors now.....if they cover it, it would now cost a small fortune.....I am hoping that I get approved and have surgery before New Years otherwise I am out of luck..... Anybody had Cigna POS the seamless plan? Need encouragement.

I called CIGNA and they checked, the doctors are different.....some things are different......I even checked their site and cannot find any of the Nashville doctors.....I will keep looking and praying.....My doctors office sent my packet today.....hopefully I will get approved and get an early date.....I would hate to have to change doctors in the middle of all of this....if you find out that I have misread the info....or know of any other things I need to know....please let me know.. thanks for the words of encouragement....no matter what, I will keep on going....my sister pushed for 2 years, they never paid, so she refinanced her house to pay and amazing, they finally paid most of it....so I am going to keep on going.

When you work for the state, you are insured thru the state. The Cigna's and the BCBS, and the Aetna's just process the claims for the State. The only thing the state uses these companies for is to process the claims, and they use there Dr lists. Your insurance coverage will not be changed. Are you changing to the PPO or the HMO? If you use the HMO I have heard it is harder to get approval. We have submitted all info to BCBS PPO, they received it last Thursday, but they still don't show it in there system. I have been told they are 2 weeks behind even getting things entered, then another 14 - 21 days for approval. We are hoping for my husband to have the surgery before the end of the year, because he is saving 2 weeks of vacation. Good Luck!!! Kim
