Just moved to Nashville> Need some advise
Hi everyone! I just moved to Nashville from Austin, TX and I'm in need of some advise. I'm 1 yr. out from my surgery> Down 125lbs. (new photo will come shortly) and my hubby and I are back on track of trying to start a family. We've been trying for several yrs. and thought it would happen once I had the surgery, but it hasn't. Anyway, I now there are two well respected Fertility Clinics in Nashville, but I wanted to take the GYN rout. I'm looking for a female preferably, but will go with whoever i'm comfortable..male or female. As of now, we have United Health Care for ins., but as of January 2006 it changes to Atena. This is what I"m having a problem with. I can't find someone that takes both insurances and I don't want to start with one dr. only to switch after the first of the yr. If there is anyone who can give me any advise or recomend a good GYN I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. All words of wisdom are welcome.
God Bless,
Michele
Hi Michele, don't worry about not getting pregnant right now. Moving comes stress, you still have 6 months or more to lose more weight, and when it's time, God will help you get pregnant. I'm not into the baby making department any more. But when I lived in Madison, just close to the Nashville Memorial Hospital is a really nice GYN. Can't remember his name, but you'll know you are in the right place if his beds are chairs that you sit on and he pushes a button and it becomes a bed. He was super when I lived in the area. A really nice man. I've had female Gyn Dr.'s and wouldn't go back to one. Those long nails of theirs, can really hurt a person inside when they are examining a female. This male Dr. has a great sense of humor. Madison is just 10 min. north of Nashville, exit 92 off I65. At the first light I think, or may be the second light, turn right, the hospital is on the right and the Dr.'s office is/was across the street. By the way, the Dr. I saw there is ranked on the high level of drop dead gorgeous and with a sense of humor. I wish I could remember his name, it's only been 6 years. I can remember Dr.'s names back 27 years ago, and I can't remember his.
Hope this helps you out, don't know about the insurance they take, you'll have to just find out, they may take both so you won't have to change Dr.'s. But remember you will still be losing weight for at least 6-12 months more. The smaller you get the better chances of getting pregnant.
Well to TN. Kathy
Michelle,
Welcome to Nashville, and good luck on your new life here! I use Dr. Karl Wingo in Nashville, he practices with Baptist Hospital and in fact, when I had my son (almost 6 years ago) he was already heading the Gynecology department for the new women's pavillion. I honestly wouldn't trade him for any female gyn in the world, as he is a very sensitive and caring doctor. I had had a midwife for my first child and thought no one could top the care I received under her, but trust me, he did. I know that he does take UHC and I am pretty sure he also takes aetna, so you could just call and ask. His wife, Dr. Nylander, is also an ob/gyn, but last I heard, she was no longer taking new patients -- that tells you how great they both are!
I hope this helps!

Welcome to Nashville! I have a wonderful OB/GYN named Dr. Sue McGuire. She's actually in Hermitage, at Summit Hospital, but she is a WONDERFUL doctor! I don't know what insurance she accepts, but you could always call her office to see.
I highly recommend her to anyone! It's nice to find a doctor who listens to you for a change!
Take care,
Ashleigh
Hi Michele,
Welcome to Nashville dear! Be patient with the pregnancy issue and make it a matter of prayer.
Anyways....as far as the GYN issue...I love mine. His name is Dr. Bennett Spetalnick and he is at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I originally had a lady doc but she was so insensitive and gave very painful exams. I would be in pain for three days after each exam. Doc Spetalnick on the other hand is very gentle and has managed my care greatly. He has also done surgeries on my grandmother and my mother. I can't recommend a better doc! BTW- He does take Aetna because that's what I have.
Here is his contact info:
NAME: Bennett M Spetalnick

PHONE: 615-936-1103
This link also has his contact info as well as a pic. Doesn't he just look so friendly?!!
