Hey Everyone!!! I am so happy to be home writing this, I just got out of St. Thomas hospital. I was there for three days ( it felt like forever!! ) I recieved four units of blood!!! I think I posted a while back about me being aniemic... well I had been working with my pcp, to help stop my period, because they had gotten really heavy, but it really wasn't working, and I kept bleeding finally I had to go to E.R. because I couldn't walk, bearly breath, and was really dizzy... The specialist their told me I was basicly bleeding to dealth and my hymogloben count was like 20, when it's supposed to be above 35!!!! It was crazy! The doctor said that this happened because a hormonal problem due to me being so overweight, he told me that I can't have my period again untill after I am able to control my weight. I told him that I am in the process of trying to have a gastric bypass, and he said we'll stop it untill then. So.... this whole thing has been really scary, I feel like it's my fault because of gaining so much weight!!! Talk to you all soon. Jacqueline

Jacqueline, do you have a bleeder that they don't know about? That's what it sounds like. My landlord has the same problem. He's only about 100 lbs because one he can't gain weight, two he has a bleeder that causes him to be anemic and passes out. They haven't been able to find it so far. What are they doing to stop your periods? What does the bariatic surgeon say about all this? I don't want to discourage you, but you may be considered too high of a risk. Talk to your surgeon and see what he/she has to say. I am really sorry to hear that you had to go thru all this at your young age. Keep us posted. Always, kathy

Jacqueline, Don't worry, I went through this as well and had to have surgery to stop my peroids and prevent me from ever having children. I went through a four pints of blood transfusion, then a year later another two pints, Taking one birth control pill every day to two pills a day, then the shots to keep from having a peroid... and I still bled. I didn't loose my uterus, they did a procedure to scar my uterus and I have not had another peroid since, for the last two years... but if you can keep it from coming back in the meantime that is great... unfortuantly mine wouldn't stop... (the second surgery was the one that was to scar my uterus.. the first surgery to remove pollyps didn't work) I will keep you in my prayers.... Just don't get discouraged if something happens and they cannot stop it... If you ever need to talk feel free to contact me via my profile. Tina Cantrell

Thanks everyone for your advice and support. They tell me that the this problem I have recently had with my periods is a hormonial problem due to being so overwieght, so actually my obgyn is encouring the surgery, because the weight loss would take care of my problem. They gave me provera to stop my periods, which it has, and it will be something that I will have to take monthly to keep them stopped...They tested my blood this fri. and my hybogloben level went up from 32 when I left the hospital to 34 ( 35 is normal!!!! ) So I guess things are good for now, I feel great. I haven't had an appt with a surgern yet, I'm still in the six month supervised diet part, and I have another appt with Dr. Hadi on the 21st of this month...... so hopefully things will be ok!!! I'll keep ya post!! Love, Jacqueline
