Middle Tennessee Lap-Banders?

Is there anyone that has had the lapband done? If so, how are you doing? Where was it done? Any regrets? Please let me know. I am considering having it done at Vandy in November. Thanks for your help. Tammy

Hi Tammy, I am still pre-op but there is a possiblilty that I'm going to have mine done at vandy too?? Who is your surgeon?? I'm also seriously considering Baptist Hospital in Nashville...take care! Blessings, Jen in TN

Jen, I do not have a sugeon yet still waiting for the final word for ins. My ins will only cover Vandy so I have no choice. Good luck to you Tammy

Tammy. I'm in the process of getting approval and having it done at Vandy.. The people there have been great and very helpful.... I haven't spoken with a surgeon yet but I think Dr. Holzman and Dr. Melvin do most of the lap bands... good luck

I am waiting to here from ins. Everyone at Vandy has been very helpful to me also. I had requested getting banded on Nov 17 or 18 because I teach and since we get 3 days off the next week I won't have to miss as many sick days. Good luck to you, Tammy

Hey Kip, I thought Dr. Wright and Dr. Richards were the only ones at Vandy that performed lapband. Did you find the info about them on this website?? I'm going to a seminar on the 21st but from what I've heard and read I think that I want Dr. Richards to do it...take care! Blessings, Jen in TN

Dr. Richards is doing a study right now I believe and I don't know if he is doing surgery. Dr. Melvin and Holzman are doing most all of the lap bands. I called my insurance first to see who and what hosiptal was covered. Once they told me Vandy I started to check the doctors out. All of them have very good backgrounds in this type of surgery. They require a lot of test but it is obvious it's in your best interest.. good luck kip

Hey Kip, Thanks for the info!! Do you have a list of all the tests that they require? I've already been approved for surgery so I wonder if they will require me to have any additional testing before they set up a consultation date with me...thanks for the help!! Blessings, Jen in TN

I started to have the other surgery but I decided for the lap band, I had to take a stress test, ekg, sleep test, psych and I think that is all. I am not sure that they require all the test for the lap band.. good luck
