Surgery Complications

Hi everyone, I had my surgery on July 12, and ended up staying in the hospital for 34 days (part of the time in ICU). I had a few "complications" and had to have more surgery. I developed pneumonia, had a bowel obstruction, and one of those big "leaks", etc... (I really don't remember much of the hospital stay except for 1st 2 days, and then the last week!!).. It has taken me a loooong time to recover and I am just now going back to work for 2-4 hours a day..Hopefully, by this time next month, I will be back full-time, and losing weight more rapidly. At first I really regretted having the surgery, as I was so very sick..but now, I am glad I did as I was so "un-healthy" before surgery.. Anyway..if there's anyone out there that had similar problems, please write to me..I still feel so weak all the time.... Thanks.. Kathy W.

Hi Kathy, can't help you out regarding the complications. I am sorry you had to go thru all that. The only thing I can say is you have been added to my prayer list and everything starts going more smoothly for you, that your body starts to heal. With my love, Kathy

Kathy, Sorry to hear about the complications, but it sounds like you're well on the way to recovery now. I had a very minor complication at about two weeks post-op that put me back a little but I felt week for the first six weeks after surgery. It will take time but you will start feeling stronger the farther out you go. And since you've been basically in bed for a month, it will take a while to get your strength back. Be sure to take your vitamins and especially iron, they will help. Ask your doc about B-12, that can help with the energy level. Get in your protein, protein is what our body uses to heal itself so it's very important. Let us know if you need anything. Toni
