Went to the hospital and got checked in and taken up to a room where my husband got all set up. He called everyone and told them that would be my room number. Then it came time for me to go to surgery and it wasn't very long and he got to walk me to the floor and had to turn and go to the waiting room. I went into preop and they hooked me up with IV and I saw the nurse and the anesthesiologist but not the doctor. Then they wheeled me into the operating room, still no doctor. I only remember being awake about 2 or 3 minutes in the operating room and never seeing my doctor. I do not remember waking up in recovery just in my room with my husband saying that everything went great and they were able to do everything, (the gallbladder and the rny). He said the Dr. talked to him and said I did great and pulled thru like a trooper. I was kinda in and out of it for a while and heard my husband on the phone telling people stuff that I was doing great and feeling fine even though he had not asked me. I was asking for pain medicine. I was in the worse pain I had ever been in my life. I had never hurt this bad. After a while the nurse came and gave me some. It was very little and did not work at all. An hour later I was begging for more. I had a drain tube that they were coming and and draining on my right side. Most of my pain was coming from my left side though. Througout the day I remained in pain alot of pain the medicine did not touch and I began to ask why it was not helping and was there anything else they could give me. At 1:00 there was a wonderful nurse who had come in and she checked my drain which had not been checked since 10:30 p.m. (I had started hurting even more as if that were possible, since 10:30) she said it was full and when she emptied it she noticed that it immediately started filling back up so she drained it again, and then again. She came back less that 5 min. later and it was full and again and was filling up as she was empting. Of course they have to measure all this. While this is going on she is at first telling me there is nothing to be concerned about because this happens sometimes and you drain more at times and slow and times. I had been up at 10:30 to sit in a chair for about 30 minutes so she thought that might have caused it. But I was also hurting really bad, so she had left to get me some more medicine which was morphine I found out and very little something like 2 she told me. She said that she would up it to 4 that usually the patients are also on darvset to but that could cause your blood to thin and since I was already draining the Dr. would not alow that until my drain stops so I am stuck with just the morphine, so I have to hurt. She checked my drain again and it was full and filling again. This continued over the next hour and she had collect 700cc of very bloody drainage in and hour so she paged the on call doctor who came flying in and looked and everything and by that time which wasn't long I have started feeling very weak and felt myself passing out which I didn't but almost. My blood pressure went down to 76 over 54 and they rushed my to the step down ICU called the EPO at the hospital I was in. It was a painful ride. The doctor wheeled my bed is how much of a rush he was in tell me I wasn't scared. Then when I got in there about 10 people surrounded me and they told my husband he could not be in there so I had to say good bye to him. I could only see him during visting hours (4 times a day 1/2 hour each) We live over and hour away from the hospital and there was no way that he was going home and leaving me there anyways so bless his heart he stayed in the waiting room the entire time. The best they could figure is I had a bleed somewhere but didn't know where. They also figured that it would heal on it's on. I endured so many pokes and *****es. I had to get poked for blood work every 6 hours to see how my blood was doing. I had to get *****ed every 6 hours to see how my sugar was doing. Not at the same 6 hours so it was two different sticks. I had to have insulin shots. I had I had 3 IV's, 5 attempted IV's, 1 pick line, 1 attempted pick line, and got stuck for blood work about 30 times before the pick. I looked like and felt like I had been beaten. That was just my arms. My stomach had a huge bruise in the middle from the bleed I guess that was and is all black and blue. It is going away now. I stayed in this unit on nothing but IV fluid and a cathedar until Friday morning at 4:00 a.m. I was then able to start eating and sometime Friday afternoon got the cathedar out. Ate fine used restroom fine but my blood was still not up enough for them to let me go so the kept me in again. I got to go home Saturday after they pulled my drain at noon and made me wait 6 hours and took another blood sample to see if my blood stayed up with the drain out. When I got home I had gained 10 of the 11 lbs I had lost in the preop diet.
P.S.
As of this moring I have lost 24 lbs.(in one week and 2 days)
