I had my surgery on 04/05 and was in the hospital for over 2 months. I am feeling better now though! I am pretty scarred up and I am still healing. Does anyone know what to do about the hair loss issue?

Wow! Two months... I hope everything is going all right now. As far as the hair loss, there isn't really very much you can do to prevent it from happening. You can take zinc to help strengthen your hair. You can use nioxin shampoo to try and stop the loss. It won't make hair regrow but it can slow down the loss. Keep getting your protein and it will grow back. Slowly but it will grow back. Good luck and let us know if there is anything else we can do. Toni

Hi Jennifer. Gosh 2 months, that's a long time. Why? What happened? As for hair loss, from those I've seen it's usually just the top part and will grow back between 3-6 months after surgery. I sincerely pray everything is better or will soon be better. Concentrate on getting in your protein, that will help. Whatever you do, do not get your hair permed or highlighted while you are losing it, wait at least 3 months after it has come back in. May God be with you as you journey along. Kathy

Hi Jennifer, I was just reading a webmd newsletter regarding hair loss in women. To read the article, go to www.webmd.com and type in the search Hair Loss Solutions. There may be something there to help you out and to everyone else. Best of luck, Kathy

Thank you guys! My pouch leaked and I had to have open surgery to repair it. Then my stitches came open twice and I got an infection. I was in a medically induced coma for a month and in the SICU for a month and a half. I was on a ventilator for awhile and then I had a trech. I am doing better now. Just trying to get my energy back up.
