Question on BCBS TeamCare

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield from Teamsters. On all of the plan info I have it says that any obesity surgery is considered cosmetic. Has anyone heard differently? I have just started my research since Thursday when my doctor suggested that I look into this option. I am really wanting this. I have 5 cousins and an Aunt who have all had this surgery. I don't have BCBS but my insurance considered it cosmetic also. My surgeon had a lot of pre-op tests done to have the surgery deemed medically necessary and the insurance paid. I didn't read your profile, are you in the Nashville area? If so I would recommend Dr Agbunag at Skyline Medical Center. He is great and so is his staff, they are very helpful in getting insurance approvals for the surgery. Toni Lap RNY 3/21/05 267/186
