WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I heard from BCBS IL today, they did not deny me... but they are requesting a 5 year history of obesity... That should not be a problem since I been obese for the past 40 years.. I'll go to my dr. and get medical notes 1 page for each year 2000-2005 showing my wt.. I'm I correct thinking this is what they are looking for? Can they come back later and ask for other things once I've provided what they requested in the initial letter? I'm excited because I wasent denied but still on pins and needles.. What do you think?

I'm not a 100 percent sure but I thought that health plans in IL had to offer the surgery, because of state law. Seems like your chances would be better because of that? Good luck with it!!!!!

I have BC/BS of IL as my secondary insurance. When I was going through getting approval last year, I never could get an ok from BC/BS. And they never gave me a clear cut reason why they wouldn't approve. As I'd spent so much money on doctors and such last year, I'd almost met my deductible for my primary insurance, so I was lucky to only have $37.50 out of pocket and CIGNA picked up the rest. I sent BC/BS of IL the same documents I sent CIGNA yet CIGNA approved me on my first appeal and BC/BS kept denying. Hope you have better luck than I did. Kelly Open RNY 10/19/04 383/363/230/165
