Awaiting Insurance Approval

Hi All, I have BCBS with the state of Tennessee. My PCP sent in a letter stating I need to have the surgery. Two weeks later the insurance has ask for more information and I am hoping this is a good sign. Do any of you have this type insurance and how quickly did you get approval? Gloria

hi gloria, i do have bcbs of tn. my surgeon required several things to be sent in for the approval process. *pcp medical neccissity referral *6 mos. documented weight loss attempts *psych eval *bmi over 40 or over 100 lbs. overweight i had all my info when i had my initial consultation and this was about two weeks before christmas. i had called bcbs a few times before christmas and they said they did not have anything on me yet. i imagine things got a little slack around this time of year. after new year, it was apparent they didn't have my paper work so it was sent again to them, this time it took a little over a week to be approved. i just stayed persistant by calling them once a week to check the status just to make sure they know that i REALLY WANT THIS. hope that helped. piper 330/237/150

I HAVE BCBS AND I KNOW THAT IT DEPENDS ON WHAT NETWORK YOUR IN. I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS COVERED WITH MY INSURANCE AS LONG AS I MET THE REQUIREMENTS. I HAD THEM SEND ME WHAT THEY WANTED.. I HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO THE PART WHERE THE REQUEST FOR APPROVAL YET!!! GOOD LUCK
