Help Please....

I was wondering if anyone has went to Dr. Spaw in Nashville? I have all the paper work done and was approved for Dr. Ray but he is no longer doing it. Besides the Seminar do you have to take any classes of any kind before or after the sugery? Is there any up front cost?

Hi, Tisha! I am sorry, but I did not have Dr. Spaw. At which hospital does he practice? I am sure you can call his office and ask what other requirements there might be for him to do your surgery as well as whether or not there are any up-front fees. Mainly due to insurance reasons, I actually ended up habving my surgery at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN by Dr. Huerta, whom I highly recommend -- although I could understand you not wanting to drive that far, given the fact that you live in Swee****er. Does Dr. Spaw have a forum on here? That might be a good place to start fact-finding about him. Good luck! --joanna

Hi Tisha. I don't know much about Dr. Shaw, or anyone who has seen him. The only thing I know is that he doesn't accept TnCare and wanted his fee up front of $3500. But the best way to find out about him is check on the top of the posting page under find a Doc. Then call his office. The coordinator can probably tell you more. Best of luck on your journey. Kathy

hi tisha, dr. spaw was not my doctor but dr. husted (his partner) was. they are both wonderful as i saw dr. spaw in the hospital a few times when dr. husted was out. the seminar is the only thing you need before your initial consultation, then at your consultation, i believe it was about $200.00 that i had to pay upfront. i do know that you should have psych eval but if you have already been approved for another doctor you may have already done that. once you have a surgery date, you will go for your pre-op testing (at baptist) about a week or two before your surgery, then you go to CCFOS for a nutrition class to get your "binder to live by" and vitamins. i believe i had to pay 1 - 2 thousand dollars at time. sorry but i can't remember for sure. my insurance would not pay for my surgeon because he is out of thier network. if you call dawn (the receptionist at CCFOS) she will may be able to tell you just how much you may need to pay. i will tell you this. this place is a wonderful God send. they are all truly angels in my book. if you have any more questions feel free to email me piper 330/239/150

Dear Tisha, I did alot of research before deciding which Dr. to go to.There were several doctors in my network that would pay 100% , but I chose Cumberland Center with Drs Husted and Spaw. These guys are excellent, this is all they do 24/7.There is a 24 hr nurse on call for patients, a web site to speak to any of the staff, including the Drs. My surgery date is Aug.15. I will pay about 2k since they are out of network. My initial consult was $200.00.. I know you will be happy with Dr. Spaw.
