Hi Everyone, I was wondering about how everyone does Splenda..I mean I have heard pro's and con'd on the subject. I've not had surgery yet but I am dieting to lose weight before surgery tho. I love things made with Splenda and I have started replacing real sugar for Splenda in everything. I use the Crystal light drinks they don't have splenda they are o.k. but I like the Splenda better. Can anyone give me a ideal of the Splenda usage good? Bad? To use or not use especially after surgery? Thanks Everyone..Have A Great Day!! Debbie

Hi Debbie, I use splenda because I am diabetic. I love homemade lemonade and especially in the summer. It keeps kidney stones from forming. In a gallon pitcher it would take 3 cups of sugar to one and a half cups of lemon juice. That's a lot of sugar. But with splenda you only have to use 1.5 cups of splenda and 1.5 of lemon juice. It's great tasting and I who loves sweetened iced tea, or lemonade, I can't tell the difference. If you are using the packets, 70 packs makes a half cup, equal to one cup of sugar. It's expensive to regular sugar. But I haven't heard of anyone having problems with it after surgery. It comes recommended. I don't buy the one that is mixed with sugar for baking, I use straight splenda. Best of luck on your journey. You will do fine. Always, Kathy

crystal light I think does have splenda but does not say it specifically on the bottle. I drink crystal light sunrise and I read the ingrediants. It has sucralose. That is splenda but I think it has acesulfame potassium along with it. I do not see asparteme(sp?) in it which is Equal. I absolutely love Splenda. I use it alot. I have read that Equal is a artificial sweetner and I know that Splenda is made from sugar. I have read pro's and con's on Equal and Splenda. I have read that Equal halts weight loss but one can not believe everything you read. I prefer not to use artificial sweetners but sometimes I have when Splenda was not available. I absolutely hate Sweet-n-Low but that is my own taste. I read you can use Splenda in baking but not always good in some temperatures. You can go to Splenda.com, don't forget the www in front. Maybe you will get more answers on here. Lisa 279/156/150

Hi Deborah, I'm only one week out from my surgery (lap GB) and I have been drinking warm tea with one small spoonful of Splenda. It doesn't seem to bother me a bit. Marian

Hi, My nurse told me that a few people will "dump" with a lot of splenda. Most can handle it fine, but some people who eat/drink a lot (like a whole pitcher of cystal light) can get cramps and dump. I am 1 1/2 weekws after RNY and do fine with it so far!
