Well it is 4 days post op for me, I came through it fine, It was alot more painful than I had expected. For some reason when you think laproscopic you think it's not going to be near as painful. I am so happy to be starting this journey, although the protein drinks are hard to get down. I was wondering did your stomachs feel really bloated like it was full, and not to get personal but I have been constipated too. Did that happen to you, I have so many questions for people who have went through it, i wonder how long it will take for me to start seeing a difference. Anyhoo, the worst is over...I am now on the loosing side!

Hi Christy, has your Dr. started you on Protein yet? I would stick to the clear liquids for at least the first week or so, that will help with the constipation. After you see your surgeon again, he/she may start you on protein shakes at that time. Ask the surgeon about it, and see what is recommended for you. An idea, while of the clear liquids, try an unflavored protein, add it to your water, soups, jello, brothe, that may help you get in your protein easier. Another is Crystal Lite, lemonade flavor, add a scoop of protein fuzzy navel to the Crystal lite, each scoop is about 20 grams, makes it taste like tang. Best of luck to you, Kathy

OMG the pain for me was almost unbearable. When I showed my family my "war wounds" they all said "that's it!?!". The laparoscopic part is very misleading. I felt bloated for nearly a week and it took 4 days before my bowels moved. I was thrilled when they did for that was a sign that I did not have a bowel obstruction. You will start noticing a difference in clothing and weight loss almost immediately. I actually became tearful the other day when I took a and for the first time I could actually lay in the tub like you should and I didn't have to turn sideways to fit! Best Wishes for continued success!

Congratulations Christy!!!! I totally understand about the protein drinks, they are hard to get down...but for the first week after we are released they are our best friend and until you can eat foods high in protein, they will continue to be. In about a week to a week and a half when you are on pureed, you won't have to consume as much protein by way of shakes because you have a few options. About the constipation issue. You do have to make sure you are getting your fluids in. I purchased some suppositories for additional assistance. I did because they gave me one in the hospital. However, I still called to make sure it was ok. So you may want to do that. They worked extremely well for me and now, I am not having any problems. Take Care and Congrats again!!!!!!! Lisa

Hi Christy Im glad to hear you came through your surgery ok, and eve though you had your surgery lap what they did on the inside is still teh same and it HURTS.... I am a person that hardly ever could drink protein drinks they made me so sick... my Dr had me drink carnation sugar free instant breakfast with skim milk nd I put a serving of unflavored protein poder in it, it was all I could stand...I also would put nonfat dry milk powder in my soups and thigs that I had on my liquid diet stage (this too was by direction of my MD) and Christy welcome to the losing side...
