Kingsport Surgeon
I haven't met him, but I did receive their paperwork in the mail for the Wellness clinic. When reading it, I discovered he will not in know way do surgery on anyone who smokes, or has in the past. He will do blood work just before surgery to make sure. From what I have heard and read, nicotine never leaves the blood system. So be carefull there, that could also be why none of us have heard of him. There's surgeons in Elizabethton, and Johnson City that I have met and would welcome it if they would do my surgery but they won't as I'm high risk. Best of luck to you, Kathy
The doctors who will not do the surgery if you are a smoker feel that any surgery of any kind is not good on a smoker because of the higher risk of blood clots to the lungs and/or breathing problems while knocked out. However, the nicotene does leave the blood stream and the doctor will let you know how long you have to be smoke free for that to happen. Dr. Husted is my doctor and he also requires smokers to quit (and he checks their blood on surgery day).
I am a nurse working in Bristol, I do not know anything about this dr, I had my surgery in JC and I am also familiar with the Dr in Bristol ( he only does open that is why I did not choose him but he is a GREAT Dr) if you want info email me....
