I know I have not been on here in a long time... But I have one of those issues that I am trying to figure out... I had my surgery June 23, 2004 and its been a year now... I am down to 181 lbs and some of the people I work with say I am getting to skinny (LOL) and I tell them I am still 30lbs to what I would like to weigh... Do people say these things to you guys... I was just wondering b/c I dont feel to skinny... I still feel fat... I went from wearing a 30 to a 12/14 and i do feel good in that accomplishment.. Will I ever feel good about my body... you can look at my website... http://robinsjourney.tripod.com Well any feedback is appreciated... Congrats to all of you new wls people and to those of you that are at your goal or almost there... Thanks Robin 317/181 Goal 150 lbs

Hi Robin, Congratulations on your progress. I'm so encouraged by how well everyone has done. I'm just three months out but people are already calling me "slim" and saying that I've gotten skinny and I'm a lot farther from goal than you. I completely understand still feeling fat. When I tell them I still have 65 lbs to lose, most say that I'll be too skinny if I do that, they just don't understand. Thanks for the inspiration. Toni Lap RNY 3/21/05 267/195

Hi Robin, it has been awhile. I started posting just before you had your surgery. Still hoping to have mine. It may be from their point of view after seeing you at 317 now 181 you may appear skinny to them, but honey it's how you feel and see yourself that counts. I would say you may not be skinny skinny, but you would still look great. I am proud of you for what you have accomplished in just one year. Be happy for yourself and what you have achieved. That's what is important. You'll make your goal, I have no doubts about that. After all it usually takes 18 months to reach your goal and to maintain it after that. You have worked hard and you should be feeling great right now. Don't let others bring you down, they are actually complimenting you. Accept it for what it is worth. We may always see ourselves as fat because that is what we are used to seeing, but you know you look good when the scales are going down, and so are the clothes sizes. Don't be a stranger girl, in fact you should be at your one yr anniversary. Someday I'll be down there with you. Love ya, Kathy

Hey Robin, They call me twiggy at work......and I'm far from twiggy. I have another 35lbs or so to go. I still look in the mirror and think fat is looking back. I know how you feel. I want to get the tummy tuck done but know that I have to wait until I have the last 35lbs gone and keep it off for a couple months. Best of luck to you sweetie and keep up the good work. Love ya Anne

Robin, Hello, good to hear from you again. I have the same problem as you about still thinking I'm that big. I have lost from 383lbs to 246 this morning when we came in from a camping trip, yet I still take size 26-28s in the dressing room and literally have to try on every size there is until I find a fit. I'm wearing 18s on the bottoms because of my huge now saggy belly and size 14-16 on the top. I can even buy some size XL in the juniors department at Wally world as my 15 y/o and I bought matching cami tops. :- ) I also go out to eat and if they sit us at a booth, I start worrying and dreading trying to squeeze in to then slide in and have plenty of room between me and the table. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever see the real me when I look in the mirror, and not the vision of how I used to look. As for feeling good about my body, well I'm pretty sure I won't unless the plastic surgery fairy finds her way to my house. In fact, I am more shy about my body now than when I was at my heighest weight. At least then I didn't look like a melted camera and all my flesh was stuffed to capacity. Now, I look very good dressed but not so good naked. Oh well, I'm way healthier and can do things I wouldn't have done last year. For example, there is no way this time last year that I could have went out on a hot summer weekend and slept on the ground on a futon mattress. I did that this past weekend and walked all over the place and still am not in bad shape. Good luck with the last 30lbs loss and finding a way to see yourself for the beauty you really are.
