I got my letter today, too. I'm having my surgery on Monday so I'm not worried about that, but Jesus, it's going to be hard to not have health insurance again. *sigh* Maybe I'll get approved for whatever else they have goin' on... but I doubt it. I hope you do have time to get your surgery done, hon. Make sure everyone involved in the process understands your situation and see if they can hurry it along some. Maybe that'll help. Good luck!

Thanks, hon. It basically just said I had until July 6th to reapply. Or, I assume, be cut off. I haven't closely examined it all (I haven't had the time nor the energy), but it looks like there's a lot of paperwork. Definitely more than the usual little form you get at DHS.

Agreed, bad situation. Got my letter today also, with surgery scheduled for July 11th. I should be ok, however looks like aftercare might be a bit sparse ;) Best of luck to you though, Billie

Billie, Sorry to here about your letter I haven't got mine yet but I got other news today because of Bluecare Tenncare. I had my 1st visit today with my WLS Dr. and because of the hospital he uses will only take 1 Tenncare patient a month he is booked until after the 1st of the year and he wouldn't even consider taking me as a patient because Tenncare is so iffffiiieee right now. It would have been nice to have had a phone call in advance before getting so upset at the Dr's office and being embarressed to go thru the waiting area. He did at least say I would make a good canditate for the surgery tho. then put on my paper as many other Dr's have done Morbidly Obese. So I guess I'm going to be that way for awhile. They said I can check back in 2 months to see if there is any news from Tenncare. So I will probably be getting my letter soon to. Hope things work out for you..will keep you in my thoughts..I know what you are feeling. Debbie

Hello Everyone..I had to come back and do a repost to my original post..I have heard from the Dr's office this morning and it looks like I'm still in the running for my surgery!!!! A very nice lady named Pam called and there was some mix up with the insurance she aplogized for the problem so we are working on getting the surgery done. I will keep praying for everyone else. Best Wishes to everyone. Have A Wonderful Day! Debbie

Thanks y'all...congrats on your surgerys..best of luck !! I have EVERYTHING done for my surgery up to the Dr negotiating with TennCare..I'm trying to stay calm, but it will be so hard not to get it after I've gotten this close. Deborah, I hope yours can be worked out too...apply for the Medicaid they offer, then appeal if you don't get it....you may not get it..I know I won't...but it will give you alittle more time to try for surgery. and on top of this...my t.v just died !! shucks

Hi Billie, I am sorry to hear about the insurance problem. I noticed you are just on the other side, sort of, of Knoxville. Have you considered checking with Johnson City. Dr. Hodge was my first surgeon that I checked with. He charges $200 for the first consult. That pays for the paperwork etc. If you can at least call them (Watson and Hodge.) Their office is right next door to the Johnson City Hospital. They may be able to help you. I also have tncare, but I have medicare A & B with Tn State medicade cross over. TnCare Blue Care pays for my medication until January, at which time Medicare will pay for my medicines with a small co-pay. I was reapproved. I fall below the level of poverty. I make less with disability monthly then what it would cost for my medications. It would cost me $15,000 a year if I had to pay for my medications, I only get 824.00 a month to live on. Surely someone can help you with your surgery and the insurance you have. When you appeal, that gives you about 50 extra days for the appeal to get back to you. One lady out of Knoxville took TnCare to court to force them to cover her surgery. She won. I will keep you and everyone else going thru this TnCare problem in my prayers. May God guide you in your journey. Always, Kathy
