Well I go for my test tonight. It was supposed to be 5/29 but they rescheduled it due to it being a holiday weekend. So, I go in tonight. I am dreading it. Would anyone mind sharing their experience with having a study, like what to expect, trouble sleeping there, privacy, etc. Are the beds comfortable? Also, do they make u go to as soon as they get u hooked up or can u watch TV, talk on the phone, read a book, etc? Do they allow u to bring your cell phone? God, I hope they have AC!!! Any info before 8:00 pm tonight would be much appreciated ( I have to be there by 9:00 pm). Thanks! Tammy

No phone, so that it won't disturb your sleep, no cell phone because it interfers with the equipment. Do you take medications at night, take them with you. You will be hooked up at 9pm, and do some paperwork. The rooms are just like you would want in your bedroom. Word of advice, if their bed allows you to raise your head or feet. Don't do it, it gives a false reading. You will have a tv, take your meds, when you fall asleep, they will turn the tv off, or you can set the remote for sleep, where it will shut itself off. Every place I've been for the study, or the level test, the beds have been wonderful. Most are full size, and private. They do have bathrooms outside the bedroom. You can shower the next morning, or like I would do is come home and shower here. The study is a bunch of wires mostly attached to your head, around your eyes, heart monitor will also be hooked up, you will have a few on the arms and legs. This helps them mark when you are restless, jerky legs, movement. The next morning around 5:30-6am you will be woken up. They usually tell you how you did. If it shows you have sleep apnea, you will have to go back for a sleep level test. This will be for you to have a cpap machine to sleep with at night. After surgery you may never have to use the machine again. I've even ordered Papa John's pizza and had it delived. So just relax, that will help you the most. Take your medications, and plan on sleeping. You will do fine. You only have to do the actual sleep study once, after that you may have to return for just sleep level tests. I've been on a machine for 4 years. Started out as a nine level. In June, I raised my bed to raise my head up, they said I was only a 10. It was repeated in August, I was level 16, in December it went up to 18 with 2 liters of oxygen being pumped in. When ever I have the surgery, I may still have to be on the machine, just a lower level. Several have said that after their surgery, the no longer had sleep apnea and never had to use their machine again. My wish is for that to happen to you. You will be fine, nothing to worry about. Just a lot of gunk in your hair. That washes out with shampoo. Always, Kathy
